Job description

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, and testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operations or the quality of products. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Responsibilities

Strong ability to work on – Pro-E / Creo, Windchill, PLM/PDM.
To handle customer complaints with respect to design issues
Good working knowledge of GD&T & Tolerance Stack-up analysis.
Perform Value Engineering (VA/VE) analysis.
Exposure to VAVE projects with idea generation, cost-saving calculations, validations, approval, and implementation.
Understand / Create Test Specifications for DV/PV testing for products.
Exposure to DVP&R preparation, signoff from Customers, and product testing.
Knowledge of Product / Component Design.
Knowledge of designing the product with all aspects from concept to design, release for production & sustenance engineering.
Understanding of technical requirements & specifications for the products.
Hands-on experience in generating multiple design concepts and feasibility checks.
Ability to create/modify, check, and release product designs and drawings (3D & 2D).
Experience in the creation of engineering BOM.
Exposure to DFMEA, FEA analysis, prototyping, and validation.
Knowledge of Plastic Injection Molding process, insert molding, and molding defects.
Knowledge of Sheet Metal stamping processes.
Knowledge of Tool Design aspects such as Undercuts etc.
Knowledge of Product aspects like parting lines, drafts, thickness, etc.
Exposure to APQP & PPAP documents and activities.
Exposure to system Audits such as IATF / TS 16949 requirements for the automotive industry.
Ability to drive and implement 4M change.
Ability to drive ECR/ECN/PCN with all CFT members and customers for flawless implementation of all changes.
Ability to work along with multiple functions such as sales, marketing, tool design, production, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, test lab, etc. and

Education and Knowledge

BE/ B.Tech / Diploma (Mechanical Engineering)

Critical Experience

1 to 3 years of experience in product design.
Experience and knowledge of plastic product design, plastic materials, and injection molding/manufacturing process.
Hands-on experience in 3D CAD modeling skills (Pro-E / Creo) and 2D drawing drafting skills.
Problem-solving skills for any product design-related issues, complaints & non-conformity with proper design improvement and solution.
