Job description

TE Connectivity’s Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in the mechanical maintenance of the equipment in assembly section to achieve the optimum OEE
  • Ensure the preventive and predictive maintenance of the stitching machines to improve the machine performance.
  • Find out the improvement possibilities of existing machine and propose changes to reduce maintenance expenses.
  • Development of the team
  • Track and improve MTBF and MTTR of production equipment.
  • Machine breakdown history data analysis and planning of corrective action.
  • Understand the machines, explore the design constraints, notify the hidden risks, improve the machine performance by minimizing the speed loss and micro stoppages.
  • Analyze the breakdowns and find out the root causes and corrective and preventive measure on time.
  • Understand the customer complaints of the line and explore the possibilities of introducing new mechanical Poke Yoke or improving the existing measures.
  • Early involvement in the new projects, from design review to SOP and developing the team to absorb the new competency.
  • Implement low-cost automation initiatives to improve machine performance and energy conservation.
  • Coordination with production team to ensure the machine is available to accommodate the sudden changes in the customer demands.
  • Ensure all the critical spares are identified and safety stock maintained.
  • Ensure all the EHS and QMS system requirements are followed as per organizations guidelines.
  • Responsible to work with a team of engineers for delivering Special Purpose machinery to the Plant NPD team for execution of all new projects as per agreed APQP timelines
  • End to End responsible for capturing the voice of Customers and All Stakeholder requirements of the product and then Buy/Build the machine to meet the expectations
  • Train and Coach the team to build the M.E Capability.
  • Improve the process to reduce CoPQ and improve OEE, by quality, uptime and productivity
  • Identify Automation and Cost Saving opportunities on Existing production lines and deliver realization

What your background should look like:

  • 1+ years of experience with a minimum of 1 in the connector industry related to SPM machines.
  • Hands-on experience in the mechanical maintenance of SPM machines- terminal stitching machines, Robots, Ultrasonic welding machines, soldering, potting, etc.
  • Experience in the maintenance of high-speed SMT machines would be an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in the maintenance of tools and dies and similar precision works would be recommended.
  • Good experience in the LOTO adherence safety procedures.
  • Very good experience in FMEA
  • Experience of IATF 16949 systems and requirements
  • Practical PDCA improvement experience
  • Good knowledge of EMS 14001: 2015, ISO 45001 & IATF
  • Hands-on Experience in designing and building header assembly machines, Complex Automation machines for the Automotive industry.
  • Mechanical and Pneumatic systems trouble shooting
  • Updated knowledge on process control systems and EOL testing.
