For positions as Junior Engineer Trainees, Tata Steel is seeking young, talented individuals with degrees or diplomas in mechanical, electrical, electronics, instrumentation, metallurgy, ceramic, chemical, or civil engineering.

Minimum Educational Qualification

  • 3 or 4 years of full-time study in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Chemical, Ceramic, or Instrumentation Engineering from an AICTE or UGC-recognized institution. OR Diploma in Electronics/Mechatronics from the J N Tata Technical Education Center, Gopalpur, or the RD Tata Technical Education Center, Jamshedpur

OR

  • Tata Steel Technical Institute, Burma, diploma in electrical and electronics/mechatronics Candidates who will graduate with a degree or diploma by July 2023 but are still in their last year of study are also eligible to apply. By August 31st, 2023, the chosen applicants must submit a copy of their diploma or degree completion certificate. If any of the chosen applicants fail their degree or diploma programme or are unable to submit their pass certificate by August 31, 2023, their training will be terminated.

  • Males in the general community: 60% (aggregate)
  • Female: at least 55% (aggregate)

Duration of Training

  • 12 (Twelve) months
Minimum Physical Standards
  • Height: 152 cm. (for girls 142 cm.)
  • Expansion of Chest: 5 cm
  • Weight: 45 Kg. (For girls/transgender 40 Kg.)
  • Eyesight 6/6 both eyes with glasses
  • Power of glasses ± 4.0 maximum
  • Color vision: Normal

Stipend and other details

  • The candidates undergoing training will be paid a stipend of 15,047/- per month during their training period. Free hostel accommodation with food (at subsidized rates) will be provided to the eligible candidates, during the period of training only.

Employment and Placement

  • The chosen applicants may be hired or placed in any site of Tata Steel Ltd., any of its Group Companies, or any of its Subsidiary Companies after successfully completing training.

BOPT Registration

  • Selected candidates will be registered with the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region) for one year under the Apprentice (Amendment) Act, 1973, subject to their eligibility.

Important dates

  • Online applications will be open from 17th January 2023 to 28th January 2023.
  • Admit Card will be released on 10th February 2023.
  • Centre Based Online Written Test will be conducted on 19th February 2023

Important instruction

  • The deadline to submit an online application is January 28, 2023.
  • There should be no physical copies submitted. The online application must have all needed papers attached; else, the application may be refused.
  • To be qualified to take the assessment, the candidate must pay the requisite fees of Rs. 500. Only use the application’s online payment gateway to make payments.
  • In any case, fees paid in the past are not refundable.
  • If a candidate is found to be ineligible at any stage of the selection process or while participating in it, their application will not be taken into consideration for admission to the JET programme or the training would be terminated, as appropriate.
  • All correspondence will take place via the registered email address. In the event that an email is not received because of sync problems or an incorrect email address, TSL disclaims all liability.
  • From the test portal, candidates may get their admit cards. You’ll be notified via your registered email address when the admission card, which includes the exam date, is released. Delayed answers to seeing the correspondence won’t be taken into consideration.
  • On the day of the applicant interview, all required paperwork will be checked after the candidate is selected in the written test..

Selection Process

  • A personal interview, medical examination, and a center-based online written test will be used to make the selection.
  • Candidates who are women are encouraged to apply.
