JOB SUMMARY

The main role of an Order Engineer is being responsible for design, cost estimating and implementation of non-standard customized pump applications. The overall responsibilities are related to the engineering processes, engineering procedures and engineering KPI’s.

For ETO projects the order/project engineer coordinates all aspects of project, sets deadlines, assigns tasks and monitors and summarizes progress of projects, this within a matrix organization where the Global Manufacturing Organization (GMO) holds the final responsibilities for procurement and manufacturing progress.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Give technical support to sales departments at the preorder stage on discrete numbers & creating new part codes.
  • Releases BOM for configured models in SAP ECC6.
  • In case of ETO orders, the order/project engineer coordinates all aspects of the project, sets deadlines, assigns tasks and monitors and summarizes the progress of projects, this within a matrix organization where the Global Manufacturing Organization (GMO) holds the final responsibilities for procurement and manufacturing progress.
  • Independently develop new parts using our 3D CAD software, managing all technical elements while maintaining cost and quality and taking the required initiatives to successfully comply to the customers’ specifications and in line with the actual technical standards and the legal regulations. Create (technical) instructions and communicate these to other departments, like production or purchase.
  • Ensure that the actual technical standards (DIN, EN, ISO, API, …) and legal regulations (Machinery Directive, ATEX, CCOE, Food Contact Material Regulation, …) are applied throughout the department.
  • Participate in project team meetings.
  • Helps to initiate and support standardization projects in good cooperation with the Manager of Commercial Engineering, Product Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Optimizes the use of engineering systems and tools like 3D CAD modeling and 2D draft, MS Word & Excel templates.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must be able to communicate (speak and write) with all levels within the organization in English, any other language is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Cross-functional collaboration.
  • Customer and results-oriented with a pro-active & can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of drive systems for pumps (electric motors and gearboxes).
  • A good knowledge of MS Office and Autodesk Inventor (3D CAD software), or another 3D CAD software.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy (strength, wear resistance, machinability, castability, chemical resistance, etc.).
  • Knowledge of actual technical standards (DIN, EN, ISO, API, etc.) and legal regulations (Machinery Directive, ATEX, Food Contact Material Regulation, etc.)
  • Driven to improve.
  • Team player.
  • Any Project Management certification shall be an asset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and/or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with pumps, especially positive displacement pumps, e.g. internal gear pumps, is a plus.
  • Experience within drive systems, automation, motor control, or instrumentation is considered a plus.
