Job Description
Under direct supervision performs a variety of engineering and drafting/design tasks requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Uses engineering judgment and responsibility to resolve stakeholder inquiries with particular emphasis on the repair engineering and replacement of mechanical seals.
Duties & Responsibilities
What you’ll do –
- Review & processing of stakeholder Project Requests.
- Follow standard application & design engineering techniques and procedures to select, apply, design, and draft wet seal products to repair or replace seals.
- Where necessary, liaise with Global Engineering Product Groups and other SMEs to provide ‘Right first-time’ design solutions.
- Perform basic engineering calculations as required to validate designs or create new designs. Familiarity with webcalcs an advantage but not required.
- Design of wet seal products using 2D & 3D CAD techniques necessary (Solid Edge preferred).
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly techniques is required.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with ERP systems required.
- Experience of reverse engineering is an advantage in terms of drawing/design work but also hands-on measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of seal and piping plan selection is required.
- Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
- Knowledge of pumps and process plant experience is an advantage.
- Working with Teamcenter and familiarity with the GCN system are necessary.
- Knowledge of the JC coding system is required.
- Experience of troubleshooting, including analysis of problems/recommendations & implementation of appropriate solutions is an advantage.
- Experience working on pump and seal repair is an advantage.
- Basic use of FEA tools like CSTEDY & similar tools for simple design analysis an advantage but not required.
The Individual
What you’ll need –
- Bachelor’s in engineering (Preferably Mechanical / chemical / Industrial / Production) with a typical experience of 3 to 10 years. (Grade will be based on candidate knowledge, experience, etc.)
- Must have sound engineering knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
- Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using preferably Solid Edge. • Knowledge of mechanical seals is required including design and application.
- Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
- Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with more experienced engineers to come up with engineering solutions.
- Must have aptitude for problem-solving and communication skills.
- Advanced / Intermediate English
- Creation of GA drawings as well as 2D and 3D component drawings in line with JC standards.
- Use of TC and GCN system.
- Control of component standards.
- Translating OEM components to JC parts using a coding system.
- Use of iProjects.
- Stakeholder liaison.
- Data Team liaison.
- OEM seal application review i.e. suitability for the duty.
- Develop new templates and design/application guides where necessary.
