Position Title – Assistant Manager – Vendor Development
Reports to – Lead – Vendor Development

Job Purpose

The Job will have a contributing role in the specification, design, and development of a new motorcycle product. You will have personal responsibility for components, assemblies, and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design systems and components for new and updated chassis projects, considering function, cost, manufacturing, assembly and quality, including the management of key areas such as ABS development.
  • Produce 3D CAD models using Creo to a high standard.
  • Produce 2D engineering drawings to a high standard.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of many major chassis subassemblies or systems within the requirements of the company’s New Product Introduction (NPI) system.
  • Follow and maintain design, operational and quality procedures and provide input where required.
  • Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required.
  • Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements and Royal Enfield internal test procedures.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the application of regulatory requirements for motorcycle or automotive industries.
  • Liaise with internal functional stakeholders to ensure alignment of expectations and needs.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to ensure design for manufacture feedback is incorporated.
  • Manage time and workload effectively including that of any engineers reporting to you.
  • Create and manage timing plans for your own areas of responsibility.
  • Work with CAD Designers allocated to help with creating CAD models.

Work Experience

Education
  • Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology degree (Mechanical/ Automobile Engineering / Mechatronics)
Experience
  • Past experience in engineering design of components and subassemblies.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably Creo.
  • Proficient in creating and releasing 2D technical drawings.
  • Good understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings.
  • Good understanding of motorcycle chassis layout and construction.
  • Practical experience in vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous.
  • Good experience in designing Regulatory requirements as applied to motorcycles.
  • Some experience in the analysis and optimization of components and subassemblies preferred
  • Good communicator, able to provide clear articulate explanations of evaluations and findings
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management and excellent knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong presentation skills and confident speaking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, autonomous working style
  • Valid Full Driving License/Motorcycle License preferred
