Position: Design Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves working on the conceptualization, design, and development of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and collaborating with global teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

1. 3D Modeling and Drafting:
   • Create complex 3D models (sheet metal/casting) and assemblies using SolidWorks.
   • Generate detailed 2D engineering drawings for manufacturing and assembly processes.
2. Concept Design:
   • Conceptualize and design special-purpose machines tailored to specific manufacturing requirements.
   • Ensure designs align with functional requirements, industry standards, and cost-effectiveness.
3. Application of GD&T:
   • Apply Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to achieve precision and maintain quality standards.
4. Material and Component Selection:
   • Select appropriate raw materials and standard components based on design and application requirements.
   • Integrate bought-out components (e.g., motors, cylinders, actuators) into machine designs.
5. Manufacturing Collaboration:
   • Collaborate with shop floor teams to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing.
   • Consider standard raw material sizes and manufacturing constraints during the design process.
6. Global Coordination:
   • Communicate effectively with global engineering teams to coordinate design activities and resolve technical challenges.

Qualifications:

1. Education:
   • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Experience:
   • Experience in designing special-purpose machines is highly preferred.
   • Familiarity with various manufacturing practices and processes.
3. Technical Skills:
   • Proficiency in SolidWorks for creating 3D models and 2D drawings.
   • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application.
   • Knowledge of raw materials, their properties, and standard sizes.
4. Soft Skills:
   • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with global teams.
   • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
   • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multicultural environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of shop floor manufacturing practices.
• Knowledge of engineering materials and their application in special-purpose machines.
