Position – Carbody Designer

Job Description

Minimum 5 years’ experience on Rail/Locomotive/Train domain
At least 2 years of concept design experience on Carbody design
Study design requirements for individual activities and understand the implied needs
Derive multiple concepts by considering various environmental factors
Design geometrical architecture of CAB, passenger area and to optimize installation
Define component and assemblies of sub-systems as per manufacturing & assembly concepts (DFM&A)
Deploy and apply project design development procedures applicable for Rolling stock
Lead concept reviews with design leads for the projects assigned
Analyze and propose retrofit solution for existing design modifications
Organize Design / Verification reviews with all stake holders
Perform self-quality checks and ensure accuracy and consistency on all deliveries
Estimate work and forecast delivery schedule for each assigned activities
Capture best practices, build knowledge repository, training material to train new engineers inducted to team

Required Skills

In-depth / working level expertise on rolling stock design/Loco CABIN Design / Train interiors Design
Ability to validate assemblies, various installations on Loco CAB Design / Train interiors Design per international railway standard
Capable of performing hand calculations on all type of mechanical design as required and able to interpret results from Finite Element Analysis
Ability to prepare detailed Tolerance stack-up analysis and recommend feasible solutions in accordance with manufacturing capabilities
Have clear understanding on various costs involved on proposed technical solutions
Capable of selecting appropriate fasteners for various assemblies
Good drawing reading skills and dimensioning standard
Well versed with GD&T on applying to new manufacturing Revision A drawings and design modifications
Thorough knowledge on welded joints design and calculation pertaining to railway standards
Thorough Knowledge of material properties, RoHS, heat treatment and surface coating
Knowledge on Rail industry standards for various regions
Through knowledge on various safety standards (HSE) followed by European Union
Basic knowledge on CAD tools like CATIA V5 and PLM platform will be added advantage
Excellent oral & written English communication
Proficiency in other languages (German, French, Italian, Swedish) will be added advantage

Qualification: BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech (Mechanical Engineering)
