Overview

Main Purpose

  1. Ensure technical availability of process lines e.g. Potato Chips Lines to deliver quality, timely production within specified cost.
  2. Ensuring tracking of usage of utilities viz. Power, Fuel, Water, Steam on Process lines
  3. Ensuring Preventive maintenance schedule adherence and compliance to KC and Statutory Requirements.
  4. Ensuring proper maintenance and smooth functioning of the Process lines
  5. Ensure Equipment, People and Food safety in Process as per company guidelines.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities– Technical availability of process area, Utility Cost, PM Compliances, food safety & personal Safety

Supervising& maintaining Process lines to meet the daily and weekly targets in terms of availability:

  • Preparing Preventive maintenance charts for PROCESS lines and ensuring compliance on weekly, monthly, quarterly basis
  • Preparing list of spares to be used during Preventive maintenance & ensuring availability
  • Allocation of manpower for preventive maintenance

Ensuring 100% uptime for PROCESS Lines

  • Doing analysis of breakdowns of Process as a part of TPM activity to remove root-cause of problem to avoid recurrence of same problem
  • Implementing actions coming out of root-cause analysis from one process line to other lines also to avoid same problem

Ensuring that the engineering stores carries the optimum amount of inventory at all times for smooth running of lines by issuing timely indents

  • Close co-ordination with engg stores to update Min-Max and Re-order levels of spares to ensure timely availability of spares keeping cost of inventory minimum
  • Providing informationto the stores on the consumption pattern of particular spare parts.

Collaborate with engineering stores on spare part

Assisting the engineering manager in carrying out installation of new machinery

  • Assisting the engineering manager in phase-put of obsolete machinery and purchase plans for new technology
  • Participating in various SGA activities to understand the functioning of the various plant systems
  • Supporting the manager in implementing and maintaining an adaptive culture in the plant
  • Ensuring that the wastage on account of spillages is within the AOP targets
  • Questioning non-improvement in quality wall scores and non-compliance with the standard machine handling practices

Participating in various task force activities to contribute towards small and continuous improvements in the plant:

  • Analyzing collectively the problem taken up by the group.
  • Designing solutions/ suggestions to the specific projects/ problems taken up by the SGAs / task force.
  • Getting thesolutions approved by the Plant Head/ Engineering Manager.

Contributing towards effectiveness of own department:

  • Participating actively in team meetings to analyze short falls, problems, concern areas with others and developing action plans
  • Implementing action plans
  • Understanding, supporting and resolving problems of team members
  • Giving on-line constructivefeedback to team members and coaching junior team members

Support Engineering Manager in AOP Design.

  • Provide Plant engineering manager regular feedback on all projects and action plan for debottlenecking constraints.

Coaching the Process operators for efficient handling of lines and enabling their multi skilling:

  • Documenting the standard checks to be done regularly by operators to ensure efficient functioning of the machines
  • Making the operators available for training on using the machines in accordance with the SOPs institutionalized by the Engg. and the Production Managers
  • Supporting the production manager in ensuring training plan compliance of employees.

Implementation of change initiatives and supporting continuous improvement in department:

  • Supporting the manager in benchmarking latest trends in production and packaging systems in the industry
  • Giving feedback to manager on change initiatives and improvement plans that have been planned for the department and organization
  • Executing improvement plans as per plans
  • Giving regular feedback to manager on implementation
  • Highlighting areas of improvement in the department and process to manager
  • Conduct review meeting with technicians to discuss developmental priorities .Help plant engineering manager in making developmental need calendar for all technicians.
  • Support Engineering manager in benchmarking latest trends in maintenance system in industry.
  • Maintaining discipline at shop floor and handle grievances at their own level before they become a common cause.
  • Support Engineering Manager in Building TPM culture in Engineering Department.

Qualifications

Key Skills/Experience Required– 

  • Education: B. E/Diploma ( Electrical/Instrumentation/Electronics/Mechanical)
  • Desirable: Diploma/ degree in Continuous Process Line
  • Functional Experience: Approx3-5 years of experience
  • Language: English, Marathi, Hindi

Experience:

  • Minimum experience of 2 years of working in a similar industry at the supervisory level
  • Experience of handling automated packaging machines
  • Exposure to other companies’ manufacturing systems and shop floor culture
