JOB STATEMENT
- Design Engineer is responsible for the design & development of API 6D trunnion mounted ball valves product line. In this position, you will design and develop a new ball valve product line to support our global growth targets.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- A design engineer is responsible for activities like
- Conceptualize innovative ideas, experiment proof of concept design, prototype build & test
- Mechanical engineering design and calculations,
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance, Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis
- Manufacturing drawing creation, BOM, Instruction manual, and testing procedure
- Co-ordinating with supplier and production for sample development.
- Prepare technical files for certifications like PED, API, SIL, etc.
- Interact with Product Manager for a better understanding of customer`s requirements.
- Closely work with global product centers to apply best engineering practices
- Run DFMEA, DFM, DFA and contribute to design reviews
- Maintains engineering documentation in support of product design, company standards, and regulatory requirements through the appropriate Product Data Management systems
RELATIONSHIPS & AUTHORITY
- Report to Head R&D -Valves
- Work closely with the team but also with product managers and with production organization (e.g. assembly, machining).
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE / BTech) in Mechanical Engineering, and around 5-6 years related engineering experience.
- Basic engineering (solid & fluid) mechanics and have prior experience in industrial ball valve product development and engineering.
- Knowledge of process industry, basic metallurgy & heat treatment, PTFE/O-rings, plating/coatings, and valves are considered as an asset.
- Familiar with design tools SolidWorks and AutoCAD, PLM/EPDM packages, ASME/API/EN codes, and standards.
- Comfortable working in an international company and speak/write professionally in good English.
- Agile way of working & methodical approach and an eye for detail engineering
- Capable of working independently and willing to make decisions based on sound engineering practice/judgment.
