Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Trainee Engineer to join our engineering team, specializing in the development of prototypes involving metal forming, machining, and casting processes. This role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with up to 1 years of experience in mechanical engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering and supply chain teams to ensure the successful development and delivery of high-quality metal components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prototype Development:
    • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of metal and plastic prototypes using forming, machining, and casting processes.
    • Collaborate with the design and production teams to refine prototypes for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
    • Conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes to verify that they meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Supplier Coordination:
    • Engage with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of metal parts.
    • Review and assess supplier quotations, providing feedback and recommendations to select the best suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
    • Monitor and manage supplier performance, addressing any issues related to quality, delays, or deviations from specifications.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Support the development and implementation of quality control processes.
    • Work with suppliers to address any quality issues and ensure that corrective actions are taken.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for any defects or failures in prototypes.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of prototype development, testing results, and supplier interactions.
    • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate prototype progress, testing outcomes, and supplier performance to senior management.
    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including CAD drawings, specifications, and quality control plans.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the design, development, and manufacturing processes for metal components.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies related to metal forming, machining, and casting.
    • Provide input on improving processes based on prototype testing results and supplier feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 0-1 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on metal forming, machining, injection moulding and casting processes preferred.
    • Internship or project experience in a relevant field is advantageous.
    • Basic knowledge about materials used in metal forming (Sheet metal), machining, injection moulding and casting processes.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic understanding of injection moulding, metal forming, machining, and casting processes.
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and modifying metal parts.
    • Familiarity with quality control methods and tools, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
    • Strong attention to detail with good problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
