Position: Engineer – Design

Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India

Position Summary

As a Design Engineer at Milacron, you will generate designs from concept to final production, focusing on manufacturability and cost efficiency. This includes supporting both standard product designs and custom projects, preparing manufacturing data and documentation, and utilizing the Coperion K-Tron PLM system. This position requires collaboration with various departments and occasional travel to vendor and customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development:
  • Develop new designs and revise existing ones using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Create layouts from initial concepts for easier detailed fabrication.
  • Select materials, calculate weight, volume, center of gravity, stress moments, and more.
• Documentation and Coordination:
  • Manage design data, drawings, and bills of materials in ERS, MAPICS, and other business systems.
  • Conduct self-checks and cross-checks on completed assignments.
  • Coordinate with drafting team members and ensure timely project completion.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work with manufacturing teams on design feasibility, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Collaborate with purchasing personnel and vendors to optimize component quality.
  • Respond to Engineering Requests (ER) for product updates and improvements.
• Project Management:
  • Prepare project reports, manage time schedules, and provide accurate estimates for new projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality on sensitive project information and respond to engineering queries.

Qualifications

• Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience:
  • 0-2 years in design engineering or a related field, especially in product design and CAD modeling.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Knowledge of materials, component fit, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Basic understanding of electrical tasks is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality work within set timelines.
