JOB STATEMENT
This Professional Services position provides the engineering support to the Metso: Outotec global repair facilities. This support includes repairs of all types of Metso: Outotec Equipment. This position’s main purpose is to provide direct engineering guidance to the global repair facilities based on Metso: Outotec product group specifications including all phases of repair, welding, machining, operation, and testing.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As part of the Metso: Outotec Global Professional Services team continuously participate in the ongoing development of Metso: Outotec Shop Repair Service capabilities on Metso: Outotec OEM and other equipment.
- Help development of market area repair offerings, and work as a team member to generate profitable business for factory OEM repairs within the Global Market Area
- Interface between repair facility employees and the product groups to develop customized service solutions on their mineral processing equipment, including evaluations, retrofits, upgrades, and measurements as required.
- Provide timely and quality engineering support to the global factory repair network. This network includes the Metso: Outotec facility well as 3 rd party repair shops and the Metso: Outotec Authorized Repair Facility network.
- Foster and maintain a partnering relationship with 3 rd party repair shops utilized for outsourcing of Metso: Outotec OEM repairs, including on site project management, quality assurance, and documentation.
- Participate in the global repair business processes including providing detailed repair recommendations, problem solving and communication with Metso personnel, partners, subcontractors, and end-users.
- Assist the factory repair business in translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Support Metso: Outotec project managers and other service personnel throughout the proposal and project execution phases as needed, and actively participate in complex projects of repair, refurbishment, upgrades, and unit exchange programs.
- Review and advise proposal team to ensure proper work scope estimation, pricing and repair procedures, as needed.
- Monitor Metso: Outotec repair procedures and capability. Make recommendations as required to ensure satisfactory performance of facilities. Analyze repair procedures and actively developing them by proposing changes and modifications as needed. Interface with product group engineering regularly.
- As part of continuous improvement initiatives, participate with the regional and global teams when benchmarking repair activities against other Metso market areas, subcontractors, competitors, and other industries to improve our repair operations.
- Consulting with other Metso technical people as required.
RELATIONSHIPS
- This position interfaces primarily with Director Operational Excellence, Metso: Outotec Product groups and the global network of Metso: Outotec repair facilities, sub- contractors, and vendors.
- This position has zero direct reports
- This position has a financial management role by assisting in repair pricing and ensuring profitable execution of work through efficient and industry standard repair engineering practices

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or comparable level of expertise achieved by previous job duties
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in mining or construction industry repair practices involving all facets of machining, welding, and assembly.
- A proven track record of professional accomplishments and high reliability
OTHER KEY SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of end-user’s operational environment is needed. First-hand experience achieved by working for an end-user is a plus.
- Experience in the repair, installation, maintenance and operation of mineral process equipment is required, knowledge and experience with crusher repairs is preferred
- Strong people skills are required
- High sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in complex matrix organizations/relationships
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge and experience with the mining or construction industry is required
- Able to foster working relationships with the Metso: Outotec product groups, subcontractors, and repair facilities (end users).
- Must have very strong knowledge and hands-on experience and expertise evaluating and troubleshooting equipment in the mining or construction industry
- Proven ability to give detailed technical advice for repairs and pricing of the repair work
- Ability to travel overnight globally +/- 50% or more, frequently on short notice
- Visits and movement through job sites, factories/shops, and travel experiences
- International travel required
- Should be experienced with engineering. Knowledge of CAD is a plus. Especially must have an advanced capability in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of non-Metso: Outotec crushers is a plus
- Results-Oriented – able to participate in a multifaceted team with a delivery-focused mentality while meeting or exceeding customer expectations
- Strong customer service/customer satisfaction capabilities
- Strong “team player” skills
- Be willing to actively engage in problem-solving opportunities
- Computer skills are essential – engineering drafting software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and knowledge of Outlook e-mail application, SAP experience is a plus
- Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time, and organizing, prioritizing tasks, and working in a fast-paced environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers Climbing of stairs, ladders, scaffolds at job sites and customer facilities
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
