Role Overview
The Mechanical System Engineer will ensure the successful integration and coordination of mechanical systems within engineering projects. This role demands a strategic approach to developing and implementing mechanical system concepts and designs while maintaining alignment with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements related to geometrical integration using section cuts, 3D PDFs, and benchmark photos.
- Define mechanical system concepts and architectures aligned with System Architects, product lines, subsystems, and building blocks.
- Develop schematics for standard mechanical architectures for hybrid and electric vehicles using CAD data and presentations.
- Allocate and detail mechanical system requirements to Sub Projects (SP) and Building Blocks (BB).
- Balance various mechanical system attributes, such as packaging, interfaces, weight, center of gravity, and material selection.
- Participate in design reviews and adhere to design freeze deadlines.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the System Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Evaluate and address changes impacting the mechanical system during change management meetings.
- Contribute to the development of serviceability concepts and assembly process standards for future products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, with a foundational understanding of electronics and e-motor design.
- Knowledge of gearboxes, electric drives, and geometrical integration principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling; familiarity with CATIA V5 and PLM systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams.
