Job Overview

The Utility Equipment Engineer will be responsible for the selection, design, and integration of utility systems in industrial and process facilities. The role includes equipment layout planning, vendor coordination, technical bid evaluations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Utility Equipment Selection & Analysis:

  • Conduct options analysis for selecting and finalizing utility equipment
  • Review technical datasheets for air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, dry coolers, boilers, condensate recovery systems, nitrogen systems, tank farms, hot water systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.

Layout & Design Engineering:

  • Develop layout plans for utility areas ensuring optimal space utilization
  • Review piping system design, plot plans, and plant layouts
  • Guide drafters & modelers in 2D & 3D CAD design development

Vendor Management & Technical Evaluations:

  • Prepare RFQs, review vendor offers, and handle technical queries (TQ)
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations (TBE) and vendor document reviews
  • Ensure vendor compliance with ASME, API, IBR, and other piping standards

Project Coordination & Stakeholder Communication:

  • Lead technical discussions with clients & cross-discipline teams
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines for seamless integration of utility systems
  • Ensure timely review & approval of drawings, specifications, and calculations

Compliance & Standards:

  • Apply knowledge of piping codes & standards (ASME B31.3, B31.1, API, IBR)
  • Implement design basis/criteria for piping material selection
  • Ensure adherence to FEED & detailed engineering best practices

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Manage mechanical & piping teams for various projects
  • Provide technical guidance to designers, engineers & drafters
  • Oversee project schedules & critical deadlines

Key Skills & Competencies

✔ Strong knowledge of static & rotary equipment (boilers, compressors, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers)
