Job description

Job Purpose

  • The scope of the role is centred on consistently delivering assigned work on-time adhering to quality standards and possessing excellent engineering skills. Responsibilities include prioritizing, planning, execution of project related activities and continually improving the productivity of the team

Education Diploma Engineers Engineering Graduate Preferred Education
Experience – 36 – 72 months

  • Impacts on-time delivery by automating routine/regular day-to-day tasks, developing reusable modules/procedures and sharing the same with the team
  • Impacts technical capability of the team by constantly improving and upgrading technical skills/knowledge to the global standard and sharing the same with other members
  • Influences the delivery of engineering solutions by maintaining open and clear communication on technical deliverables with the internal and external stakeholders
  • Influences the quality deliverables by participating in peer reviews and enhancing team skill with effective review feedback

Principal Accountabilities (A)

Technical Management

Understands requirements

  • Understands and interprets the technical requirements as per the project specification and checklists
  • Ensures to acquire awareness of local and international standards as well as those required by the customer

Skill development and contribution

  • Keeps abreast of the technical skills/knowledge required for the role and shares knowledge with the team. Provides inputs to enhance team productivity
  • Responsible for contributing to presentations, demonstrations to the potential customers and for publishing technical papers under the guidance of Project Lead/Project Manager

Technical solution generation

  • Responsible for analysing the issues/challenges in day-to-day tasks and propose/support development of solutions in consultation with Project Lead/Project Manager
  • Accountable for providing error-free deliverables to agreed specifications, within the assigned time/effort estimated/planned

Project Management

Project planning and execution

  • Responsible to manage, maintain and monitor the assigned task according to stipulated standards, practices and milestones
  • Responsible to prepare and execute QC checklists
  • Ensures proper communication/escalation to PL where applicable, like scope change etc

Project review and reporting

  • Responsible for timely and prompt progress reporting to line manager as per project plan
  • Participates in quality audit/peer reviews as required by the company/project policy

Risk identification

  • Accountable to ensure proper communication / issue escalation as and when required
  • Responsible to conduct root cause analysis, manage and mitigate the risks in consultation with PL

Process Management

Process/productivity improvement

  • Contributes to best practices, lessons learnt and knowledge management. Assists implementing them in team for productivity improvement

Quality awareness and compliance

  • Responsible to understand, meet quality standards for respective disciplines as required by QMS/project and ensures compliance with minimal supervision
  • Ensures quality compliance by performing quality check of work done by people reporting to this role. Improves overall quality from lessons learnt from the previous projects

People Management (In case handles team)

Team performance

  • Responsible for providing regular feedback and inputs to Discipline Lead on the performance of people reporting to this role

Responsible for supervising day-to-day activities of the team and for coaching team members in technical and domain areas

  • Design of automotive plastic parts by using ATIA V5 / V6
  • Design and Development Experience in Automotive interior components like Instrument panel, Floor console, Door Panels, Hard trims, Soft trims and Overhead systems.
  • Expertise in Catia surface modelling and other modules like Part, Assembly & Drawing.
  • Preferred multi CAD tool experiences: Primary CAD skills in Catia and secondary in UG NX and/or Creo.
  • Highly preferred Tool/mold Design Knowledge and/or experience.
  • Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
  • Able to work on concept designs, DFM and DFA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in automotive interior trim components and subsystem development
  • Must have in-depth technical expertise with the latest manufacturing technologies used for Interior components to achieve systems requirements and craftsmanship targets
  • Strong working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, including familiarity with GD&T and dimensional engineering.
  • Hands on experience in Geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Multi-tasking capabilities are essential to manage priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and consistent ability to achieve deadlines under pressure.
  • Selected candidates should be placed in Bangalore office.
