Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team focused on Alkaline Electrolyzer R&D Stack Testing & Validation in Hazira, Surat. This role plays a critical part in our product development process, providing a unique opportunity to tackle technical challenges related to green hydrogen technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for electrolyzer stacks, optimizing for efficiency, reliability, and durability.
- Oversee the assembly and integration of electrolyzer stacks, ensuring precise alignment and optimal assembly of cell components.
- Conduct testing and validation of prototypes and production units to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality benchmarks.
- Build and validate alkaline electrolyzer test benches, supporting single-cell and short-stack testing.
- Develop and implement test protocols to qualify the design, processes, and materials for alkaline electrolyzer cell electrodes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and electrical groups, to integrate systems and components seamlessly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for electrolyzer test benches.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues encountered during development and testing.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and reporting.
- Adhere to L&T’s safety standards and protocols, ensuring a secure working environment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrolyzer systems.
Qualifications/Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, ideally within electrolyzer technology or related fields (fuel cells, hydrogen production).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Experience in assembling and testing single-cell/short-stack test equipment for Alkaline/PEM/AEM electrolyzers.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team.
- Experience in designing mechanical test fixtures is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent academic training in electrolyzer cells, fuel cells, or electrochemistry.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection tailored to electrolyzer applications.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety protocols in hydrogen technologies.
