Position: Asst. Manager/Sr. Design Engineer – Structural Designer (MHG)

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

• Act as an individual contributor and guide team members as required.
• Contribute to the design and development of mechanical and structural components and systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications in all designs.
• Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to validate design integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, project management, and support teams.
• Coordinate with internal/external laboratories or departments for experimental work.
• Perform research through literature or web surveys to address design or R&D requirements.
• Prepare, review, and approve design documents and specifications.
• Create drawings with an understanding of manufacturing processes and release them in PLM.
• Resolve design changes and non-conformities effectively.
• Be willing to travel across India to vendor, customer, or test facilities.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Prior experience with PLM systems is desirable.
• Familiarity with CMMI Level V processes for design and development projects is preferred.
• Identify and develop skill sets necessary for current and future design projects.

Areas of Expertise/Work Background

Essential Areas:

• Design and analysis of structural and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of machine design, strength of materials, and theory of machines.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (preferably UG NX) and GD&T.
• Exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, and system integration.
• Fundamentals of finite element analysis (FEA).
• Understanding of basic manufacturing processes like machining and welding of steel components.

Preferred Areas:

• Experience with systems engineering and multi-body dynamics (MBD) simulation using tools like Adams, Excel, or MotionSolve.
• Knowledge of PLM, electrical systems, and advanced FEA tools (e.g., Hypermesh, Ansys Mechanical).

Skills and Competencies

• Technical Skills: CAD Design, FE Analysis, ADAMS, Machine Design, GD&T, Hydraulics.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
• Other Skills: Ability to perform detailed simulations and coordinate with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualification: Master of Technology (M.Tech) or Professional Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering.
