Position – Engineer–Product Engineering (VAVE)

Job description

BASIC FUNCTION –

• Perform Product cost out opportunity in a target-oriented manner through VAVE methodology and cost analytics. Work with cross-functional teams to identify the Products for cost out, analyze, and execute the Cost reduction VAVE projects.
• Execute VAVE Design Projects following the Exit Gate process.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Internal and External) in product development.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the VA/VE Projects to meet/exceed the Annual Targets
• Actively participate VA/VE Workshops for New Idea generations, Work closely with Global VA/VE Coordinators and exchange the VA/VE learnings between the networks.
• Perform cost-out opportunity mining exercises by Pareto analysis, competitor benchmarking & tear down, etc.
• Apply VAVE methodologies and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Perform cost-benefit analysis and finalize annualized savings for given project.
• Prepare alternate design concept models and drawings using Creo software.
• Use GD&T (Geometric dimension & tolerance) & tolerance stack-up knowledge during drawing/data creation.
• Coordinate the prototype development and verification testing of modified designs.
• Coordinate Innovation idea generation, Patent study, and Improvement initiatives within the department.
• Support the CPD (Current Product Development) activities within the VC India Team
• Create BOMs and engineering change requests and release the revised designs in the Windchill database and SAP.
• Work with cross-function teams and make sure the product changes are in line with the codes and standards and customer value proposition.
• Work closely with the functional team and drive Engineering deliverables for VA-VE/CPD Projects.
• Document all the activities as per ISO requirements and report to the Stake holders on recommended frequency.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Expected: Lead the VA/VE activities to meet/exceed the Annual Targets within the VC India Team

• Results: Work with VC Engg team to generate New VA/VE Ideas, Ensure tracking and monthly status reporting of VA/VE ideas

• Lead VA/VE & Innovation Workshops for New Idea Generation for meeting/exceeding the VA/VE Targets at Department level.
• Lead VA/VE Projects as a Project Manager and Coordinate the completion of Engineering Deliverables as per Project Plan
• Apply VAVE methodologies and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Perform cost benefit analysis and finalize annualized savings for given project.
• Lead Competition benchmarking & Patent study activities
• Present the VA/VE Project status to the Leadership team on monthly basis.
• Track & Provide Visibility on VA/VE Implemented & Innovation Idea generation status on monthly/Quarterly basis
• Publish VA/VE Report of New Standardization / Innovative Ideas generated, Existing ideas implementation status, etc
• Prepare alternate design concept models and drawings using Creo software.
• Develop & Coordinate Prototypes/Tooling’s for VA/VE Projects
• Develop & Coordinate – QTP & Design Validation Plans
• Work closely with Global VA/VE & Innovation Coordination teams

Expected: Gather market feedback on product configurations specifically required for India market.

Results: Frequent Benchmarking of competitor products and implementation of new ideas to be market leader.

• Lead Benchmarking activities & providing technical analysis and implementation of competitor benchmarking.
• Lead discussions with the Patent/Legal team on different Patent applications, Study all related Competition patents, and highlight the infringement areas, so that product engineers can ensure a different design feature with no conflicts.
• Design modifications are recommended to accommodate continuous production and sale of existing products or improve production efficiency or cost.
• Assisting in the translation of market and customer requirements into projects and product designs

Expected: Lead/Support the CPD/REA (Small VA/VE) activities

Results: Ensure response on CPD queries as per agreed timelines related to VC Engineering Products

• Lead/Support for assigned CPD/REA (Small VA/VE) activities for India VC Engg
• Providing Visibility on different CPD/REA (Small VA/VE) queries received and their completion status.
• Complete all engineering deliverables required for completion of assigned CPD/REA (Small VA/VE) activities.

Expected: Good CAD Expertise on CAD (Creo) in order to independently manage the VA/VE CAD activities.

Results: Knowledge of advanced part and surface modeling on CREO and understanding of Kohler products, Good knowledge of Plastic & Stainless Steel parts

• Providing CAD data, models, and drawings for a variety of VA/VE projects of existing products.
• Preparation of CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and documentation needed to define the product design.
• Maintaining awareness of relevant product technologies and improving technical skills

Expected: Design guidelines, BOM, Test standard.

Results: Understanding of Current Kohler design guidelines with respect to Product Drawings, Bill of Material, Test Standards, and PPAPs.

• Evaluating the technical feasibility of new product concepts and potential modifications to existing products.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining the necessary documentation for products (PCI, BOMs, Drawings, verification reports etc.)

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• B. Tech Mechanical Engineering (From Reputed Institutes, with 1st Division), with (Min. 1~3 Yrs.) of Industrial Working Experience
• Hands-On Working Experience of VA/VE, Cost Innovation Projects in a Global MNC.
• Working Experience on Creo (3D Modelling, Assembly, Advance Surfacing & 2D Drafting) of Minimum 1~2 Years is required
