Position – Quality Engineer – Inspection & Documentation (Pune)

Job description

The Engineer will be responsible to handle gas panel inspections in operations. Also responsible to handle inspections of gas panels and spares at supplier locations, JC locations, and final inspections with customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability to review and understand the project specifications.
  • Deviation list preparation and submission to the engineering team for approval.
  • Ability to review and understand P&ID, GA, and fabrication drawings.
  • Preparation of quality or inspection test plan as per project requirements.
  • API sealant systems stage & final inspection at supplier place as per inspection check sheet.
  • Mechanical & electrical instruments inspection as per data sheet.
  • Stage inspection of raw materials as per ASTM/ASME codes.
  • Coordination with customer & TPI during the inspection.
  • Review of Material test certificate and statutory certificates (ATEX PESO etc.) and final document package preparation as per project requirement.
  • Compliance report preparation after customer inspection.
  • Monitor and report the quality performance of the Fabricator
  • Should be able to prepare detailed inspection checklists, SOPs, etc.
  • Should be able to identify the root cause for any non-conformance observed during in-process and or final assembly and prepare required reports.
  • Must be able to prepare/suggest CAPA for any root cause identified for a permanent solution.
  • Preparation & Review of WPS, PQR & WPQR, Perform Weld Visual Inspection, RT Review.

The Individual

  • Diploma / BE in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2-6 years of experience in a Quality Control / Assurance department, having specific exposure to Auxiliary systems (Related to Oil & GAS) Manufacturing & Assembly.
  • Qualification/certification in auditing (ISO and ASME) and in inspection (NDE level II – RT, DP min) disciplines is preferred.
  • Experience with Contractors and Suppliers of materials, equipment, and fabricators involved in production.
  • Experience in preparing and verifying checklists, RCA, CAPA, and process improvement activities.
  • Code awareness on ASME Sec.II, Sec. V, Sec. VIII Div.1, Sec IX), API 682, API 610 B31.3, B16.5 etc.
  • Support safe workplace cultures and compliance with Smiths EH&S
