Position – Engineer-CAD

Job description

  • P-CAD is an important function within Central Projects Group (CPG) offering high-quality engineering services such as GA’s, proposal drawings, components, and design calculations of Mechanical Seals. The role provides good exposure to high technology projects in the Oil & Gas sector and ample opportunity to bring out engineering excellence through project engineering support. The purpose is to handle First Fit projects and perform a variety of design tasks related to customer GA’s, Proposal drawings, sketches, or component design.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret and establish product requirements from customer / DOR / Technical file requisitions
  • To design and release large varieties of Engineered-to-Order Mechanical sealing designs through General Arrangement
  • Drawings (GAs’), and Manufacturing drawings in line with business expectations and targets using 2D & 3D CAD techniques
  • To maintain a consistently high standard of work (100% error-free drawings) and maintaining delivery schedules
  • Must be instrumental in following and implementing company Procedures and design Standards
  • Perform Basic Engineering calculations as required using various Engineering tools/calculations
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and ensure agreed Corrective Actions are implemented consistently (8D / RCA / GCN process)
  • To verify and authorize design outputs (GA’s, Detail drawings, etc.) for technical accuracy and conformity
  • Apply practices and proven techniques to resolve a variety of conventional issues or situations
  • Provide cover for Senior Engineer in his/her absence to ensure capacity planning and reporting
  • Report performance data along with improvement plans (where applicable) by maintaining high ethical standards

The Individual

  • Drive and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment, including following appropriate HSE procedures /performance of risk assessments as appropriate
  • Good Engineering Judgement with Sealing Solutions or high precision assemblies
  • Strong hands-on skills in Solid Edge 3D Assembly / 3D Part modeling/ 2D Draft environments
  • Should have very good application knowledge of Fits and Tolerances and GD&T in Design of precision assemblies
  • Should be committed to very high levels of customer service
  • Must pay attention to details with good analytical skills and be a quick learner
  • Should have good written and spoken skills in English and Dedicated team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Experience with CAD Automation programming languages (like VBA) will be an added advantage
  • Manage and report personal workload, forecast own job lead-times to meet customer and departmental objectives
  • Must have a proven track record of high-quality performance with wet seals assembly and manufacturing drawings
  • Must have checking ability to confirm Wet Seal design outputs (3D/2D GA’s, Details, etc.) prepared by other engineers
  • Experience in conducting training on Mechanical Seal Design will be an added advantage

Position – Engineer-Projects

Job description

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting designated projects of central projects application & sales support team that is responsible for delivering competitive techno-commercial bids and related strategic initiatives for designated John Crane Products like Wet mechanical seals and Sealant Systems, in collaboration with stakeholders, that primarily include Front End Project/OEM/End User Sales teams, Fluid control bidding, Global Engineering, Global operations etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

(Pre-Order phase)
  • Reviews Tender documentation including detailed reviews of the Instructions to Tenders, Scope of Work, Key Contract Dates, Commercial terms and conditions
  • Reviewing project specifications, datasheets, and bid documents to establish customer requirements
  • Review and identify any inconsistencies in the Invitation to tender documents and, if necessary, seek clarification from the customer
  • Co-ordinate with the fluid control group regarding the detailed design of proposed API sealant systems and pricing
  • Co-ordinate with Application Engineering team to obtain Application Engineering sign off for non-standard or special applications as necessary
  • Preparing techno-commercial project proposals/bids for seals / API systems
  • Provide replies to a request for techno-commercial clarifications regarding the submitted proposals
  • Attend kick-off meetings prior to order finalization when required

(Post order phase)

  • Contract review
  • Handover to operations coordination & engineering teams
  • Support Projects delivery office to resolve the customer techno-commercial queries/issues arising during drawing approval stage or manufacturing phase as appropriate

The Individual

  • BE or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/IP)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Industrial background: Process, Chemical or Petroleum / Petrochemical industries Or industries supplying equipment to above industries (Pumps, Compressors, Seals, Valves, or other rotating / process equipment’s)
  • Functional Experience: Project management, Sales coordination, Application Engineering, Seal design, etc with good knowledge of International commercial terms and conditions, contract laws, and sales functions
