Job description
Under direct supervision performs a variety of engineering and drafting/design tasks requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Uses engineering judgment and responsibility to resolve stakeholder enquiries with particular emphasis on the repair engineering and replacement of mechanical seals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review & processing of stakeholder Project Requests.
- Follow standard application & design engineering techniques and procedures to select, apply, design and draft wet seal products to repair or replace seals.
- Where necessary, liaise with Global Engineering Product Groups and other SMEs to provide ‘Right first time’ design solutions.
- Perform basic engineering calculations as required to validate design or create new designs. Familiarity with webcalcs an advantage.
- Basic use of FEA tools like CSTEDY & similar tools for simple design analysis an advantage.
- Design of wet seal products using 2 & 3D CAD techniques necessary (Solid Edge preferred).
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly techniques required.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with ERP systems required.
- Experience of reverse engineering an advantage in terms of drawing/design work but also hands on measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of seal and piping plan selection required.
- Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
- Knowledge of pumps and process plant experience is an advantage.
- Working with Teamcenter and familiarity with GCN system necessary.
- Knowledge of JC coding system required.
- Experience of troubleshooting, including analysis of problems / recommendation & implementation of appropriate solutions is an advantage.
Experience working on pump and seal repair an advantage.

The Individual
- Bachelor’s in engineering (Preferably Mechanical / chemical / Industrial / Production) with typical experience of 3 to 6 years.
- Must have sound engineering knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
- Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using preferably Solid edge.
- Knowledge of mechanical seals is required including design and application.
- Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
- Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with more experienced engineer to come with engineering solutions.
- Must have aptitude for problem solving and communication skills.
