Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Associate Engineer II – Mechanical Design to join our team in Chennai. This role involves collaborating with the US product engineering team to design electromechanical products per industry standards such as UL, IEEE, and NEMA.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Design & Development:
  • Design casting components, including drafts, parting lines, and addressing casting defects.
  • Create drawings for casting, machining, and secondary manufacturing processes using ASME Y14.5M – 2009 standards.
  • Ensure compliance with UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards.
• Process Expertise:
  • Utilize expertise in sand casting, die casting, and per mold casting processes.
  • Apply knowledge of aluminum and copper materials in design and manufacturing.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups and ensure adherence to GD&T and DFMA guidelines.
• Software Proficiency:
  • Use Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assembly configurations, and drafting.
  • Manage engineering changes and documentation through SAP ECM.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Interact with US engineers to understand project requirements and act as the technical interface.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and documentation, ensuring timely project execution.
  • Prepare manufacturing, sales, catalog, and assembly packaging drawings.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience:
  • 3 to 6 years of design engineering experience, particularly in casting design.
  • Hands-on expertise in casting and machining processes.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in GD&T, DFMA, and engineering change management.
  • Familiarity with UL and IEEE standards.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, surface finishes, and materials like aluminum and copper.
• Software Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM).
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across global teams.
