Role Summary

The VED-Design Engineer/Senior Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing and designing vehicle engineering systems and components with a focus on feasibility, weight, and cost targets. The role encompasses system-level validation, layout studies, interfacing with other systems, and ensuring production readiness through pilot trials.

Responsibilities

• Design and Development:
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings adhering to best practices.
  • Conduct layout studies and ensure proper interfacing of VED systems.
  • Maintain tolerance stacks for gaps and flush variations in vehicles.
• Validation and Testing:
  • Perform system and vehicle-level validation for fitment.
  • Conduct pilot production trials for mass production.
• Collaboration and Process Optimization:
  • Develop fabricated parts and manage multi-sourcing for new/existing components.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (CFT) for design manuals, PFD, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Suggest VA/VE ideas for material cost reduction.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to IATF/MSES requirements.
  • Document design processes and maintain records.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background:

• BE/BTech in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering from a reputed institute.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in advanced surfacing, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing using tools like CATIA V5 or equivalent CAD software.
• Knowledge of DFM/DFS, FMEA, GD&T, and manufacturing processes for frame design.
• Understanding of component and subsystem designs, material selection, and project planning.

Behavioral Skills:

• Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication abilities.
