Job description

Job Description Summary

Role Summary/Purpose

Deconstructing Hydro Make and Buy Products is key to understand and deploy Should Costing, Value Analysis & Value Engineering.
Should Cost Parts Analyst (PLM)is a key function of the Should Cost and Value Engineering organization which breakdowns the products into parts or sub parts from its NX 3D Model using PLM SOFTWARES like Solid Edge/ SolidWorks / Creo or equivalent and then reconstitutes them.
The objective of the Part Analysis is to estimate the accurate quantity of Raw Material, Improve Material Utilization, evaluate the parts with respect to most economic Method of Manufacture, carry out value engineering i.e. alternative material, thickness standardization, design to cost, use goal seek to optimize design to fit standard Raw Material shapes and size.
The Should Cost Parts Analyst is responsible to generate output reports Part material database, Stock material database, Raw Material Nesting Report, Fabrication report of welding, cutting, bending etc. and Machining output report.
These reports are used as an input for Should Cost preparation to be used either for negotiation with suppliers or as an input for Cost Oriented design review.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Experienced, Knowledgeable and Efficient in CAD & CAM modelling in 3D PLM tools like Solid Edge / SolidWorks / Creo
  • Perform CAM modelling in Solid Edge / implement CAM Model on similar products from templated CAM model
  • Experienced in interfacing with 3D Model made in Siemens NX PLM tool including parts library, part name identification and reconciliation.
  • Able to break down into parts with nomenclature in Solid Edge even if the NX 3D model is in single assembly
  • Able to write back into base NX 3D Model incorporating the named parts made in Solid Edge – to maintain traceability of parts in Solid Edge.
  • Knowledgeable in Assembly Environment, Part Environment, Sheet Metal environment and can develop the part or assembly in each of the applicable environment.
  • Scope of Part Analysis shall include Segregation of Main parts from Small Parts, Part Separation, Stock Preparation (by removing cuts, notches, holes, edges etc.), Cutting, Unbending, Flattening,

Cutting into subparts to fit Standard Raw Material Shapes & Sizes, Nesting, Reconstitution & Generation of Reports for Raw Material procurement, Fabrication and Machining.

  • Develop 3D parametric model in Solid Edge based on Excel parametric dimensional input>> Apply templated Part analysis process by adapting dimensions for similar parts in multiple projects.
  • Efficiently adapt and apply the existing Part Analysis of Hydro products in similar parts of multiple projects
  • The Part Analysis of 20 Hydro Products would be prepared by External Consultant. The Should Cost Part Analyst shall get trained on these processes by the external consultant and apply it new jobs.
  • The Part Analyst shall obtain input and get reviewed by Should Cost & Value Engineering team on optimized Raw Material Utilization and optimized processes of Manufacture
  • Produce Comparative cost Reports of multiple values engineered designs and multiple Nesting Patterns of the same product for analysis to be done by the Should cost / Value Engineering team.
  • Optimize between material cost and Manufacturing to the best cost point
  • Ability to lead and work in a multi-nationality, multi-region environment across different time zones.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • ITI/Diploma in Engineering preferably Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in 3D Modelling in Products and/or Systems in Siemens NX environment.
