Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Basic design of hydro Turbine component for hydroelectric power station projects.
  • Responsible to generate, verify and control of project specific design drawings, specs, Installation, O&M instructions, and other technical documents required to source, manufacture, test, install or maintain the units by applying GE and industry processes and standards.
  • Responsible for analyzing qualitative and quantitative technical and commercial information on the project, including technical specifications, proposals, reference designs, and other sources of information necessary for the preparation of the project to comply with such requirements;
  • Support manufacturing, sourcing and field support with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (NCR, SDR); Drive quick, complete technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence;
  • Identify and execute cost saving ideas and strategies;
  • Prioritize, plan and execute tasks when executing own work packages for multiple projects in parallel;
  • Ensure the realization of informal and formal Design Reviews.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Support standardization actions in relation with Sourcing department and suppliers
  • Support project teams in front of their customers, suppliers, partners, …
  • Analyze suppliers offers and drive technical clarifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • At least 3 years of strong experience on design of hydro turbine
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • High level of Competency in Analytical calculation.
  • Additional experience in design of Auxiliary, piping, tool NX, AutoCAD will be preferred.

Purpose of the Job

  • Perform Refurbishment and Service project execution and support new Product Development initiatives in the field of “Governing systems.”
  • Responsible for major and complex Refurbishment and Service project execution assignments from ITO to OTR
  • Active participation in elaboration of conceptual, basic and detailed design of Turbine Governing System.
  • Responsible for tender in functional area of expertise within Governing system bids.
  • Allotted work to be perform in define schedules and budgeted manhours.
  • Standardization and methodology aspects for mechanical engineering.

Job Description

Activities:

Below activities will be completed for Tender and Execution of Transactional/Retrofit/Refurbishment projects for Installed base/Services/Fleet operations

  • Contract analyses.
  • Creation of activities in EMT, based on budget (supplied by Sub-CoE Leader) and project planning (supplied by System Integrator P&S).
  • Support to System Integrator for technical interface management under MINFEX.
  • Preparation of engineering documents (following design practices) – Design Memorandum, P&ID, Functional Description, Calculation Note, Technical Purchase Specification for:
  • Hydraulic Power Unit,
  • Electronic Speed Governor,
  • Accumulators,
  • HP Compressors,
  • Oleo-hydraulic Equipment,
  • Electric al boxes.
  • Instrumentations.
  • Organization and participation to design reviews (with principal engineer).
  • Technical Bid Evaluations, kick of meetings, supplier follow-up and detailed design review and validation. Manufacturing clearance, factory acceptance tests and operating & maintenance manuals.
  • Prepare and perform technical training to clients/partners.
  • Site support during erection, commissioning and warranty period.
  • Transverse missions :
    • Business trips (site, client office, supplier workshop).
    • Active participation in standardization and cost out actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical documentation and equipment within the time schedule and allocated budget.
  • Apply EHS rules and technical standards on projects.

Knowledge / Experience:

He or She should have Engineer graduate with a dynamic professional with nearly 5 to 10 years of good experience in Governing System engineering for Hydro Power Plant.

Expertise in basic and detail design engineering practices. Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.

  • English speaking and writing are mandatory.
  • Very strong Engineering experience related to power plant processes
  • Familiarity with Power plant troubleshooting, and services is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel 30 to 40% as required
  • Must be willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution
  • Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work, of cross- functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion

Job Description Summary

The lead customer application engineer for Turbine hydraulics is part of the global COE organization of technical tendering and functionally reports to regional technical tendering leader. He/she is responsible for the ITO activities related to Turbine hydraulics for large new and refurbishment tenders.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Hydraulic design of different types of turbine -Francis, Pelton, Kaplan, Bulb, Pump turbine etc. in line with GE/International standards for new as well as refurbishment tenders.
  • Water hammer calculations
  • CFD calculations for under water components
  • Design selection based on the tender strategy
  • Support on Layout optimizations
  • Ensure compliance of technical regulations of tendered region/country
  • Interface management with other functions for accurate technical tendering activities
  • Identify technical risk and opportunity from customer specifications and define mitigation actions and incorporation of FOE.
  • Discussions with customers / consultants on technical issues during pre and post tender stages
  • Coordination with Expert for Design Approval and Optimization.
