Description

The Rotating Components Design Engineer is expected to perform the mechanical design and structural analysis of several static and rotating components such as Disks, Shafts, and Bearing Supports to meet their mechanical integrity requirements, support their manufacturing, and to manage their in-service issues.

In this role, you will work within the Rotating Component Design Department as Hardware Owner for the assigned components manufactured in the Rivalta shop. As a components analyst, you will also interface with Engineering Technical Leader and Senior Engineers, as an MRB analyst with the Supply Chain (Manufacturing, Quality, and Sourcing).

Roles and Responsibilities

NPI (New Product Introduction): design engine components analysis by FEM analysis for applicable mechanical integrity requirements in line with the product specifications and considering all the potential design constraints. Be responsible for the preparation and presentation of Technical Reviews, (Chief Engineers consultation, NPI reviews). Develop and design new parts exploring new technologies (e.g. additive).

Production Support: assessment and substantiation of non-conformances, record documentation in the proper repository, and supplier’s data verification for consistency. Supporting technological validation processes – analysis for process capabilities, comparative studies to currently experienced processes. Verification of relative requirements and acceptability conditions for repair procedures. Support Process Improvement and DPU reduction projects. Definition and substantiation of Component Engineering Change

Field Support: Support field investigations, processing of analysis models, and delivery of technical reports to support the Life Cycle Engineering Team. Support Repair Engineering Team to update Repair Notes documentation

Reporting for the status of the performed task including preparation of presentations with detailed descriptions of obtained results, and active participation in technical/management meetings with design and/or Supply Chain representative

Required Qualifications
  • Master degree in Mechanical /Aeronautical/Material Engineering
  • Knowledge of CAE analysis
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and fatigue principles
  • Good knowledge of GD&T tolerance system for part drawing definition and ability to perform quick hand calculations (e.g. stack up).
  • Good knowledge of CAD drawing and drafting
  • Knowledge of CAE analysis
  • Fundamental knowledge of aviation engines, LPT and components, material application in the aviation industry, and materials durability
  • Fundamental knowledge of conventional machining processes (drilling, turning, milling, broaching, etc.) and special ones (SHOT-PEENING, EDM, ECM, etc.)
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • EU Work Permit
Desired Characteristics
  • Knowledge of the Italian language will be considered additional strength of the candidate
  • Experience in an aerospace and/or mechanical engineering position
  • Lean mindset, oriented to continuous improvement and waste elimination
  • Advanced Ansys (classic and workbench) and Hypermesh tool
  • Unigraphics CAD tools
  • Six sigma green belt
  • Work or study experience abroad will be considered as additional strength of a candidate
