Job Description

Franklin Electric Corporation is actively seeking a Mechanical Designer with exceptional mechanical design skills. This is a creative opportunity to provide operational plant and engineering support. This position will interface with and support our Global Engineering Technical Centers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of mechanical systems and components. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and contribute to various projects that drive innovation and improve the efficiency of our products. Additionally, you will update and maintain design layouts utilizing Creo, 3D, and Bill of Material (BOM) using JD Edwards, ERP. You will also be involved in the following efforts:

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components, particularly pumps, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company specifications. Conduct engineering analysis, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics.
  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., Creo and SolidWorks)
  • Drawings completed with all necessary notes, views, and title block updates, in compliance with Franklin Electric design standards.
  • Support the development of technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Minor Stack-up analysis and GD&T application.
  • Bill of Material (BOM) Management using BOM tools in the JD Edwards ERP system.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools.
