Job description

The role involves meeting Ford GPDS timelines and quality standards for CAD design deliverables, requiring a strong knowledge of the Digital Pre-assembly process and BOM. The responsibilities include performing dynamic and static clearance checks, ensuring CAD/BOM alignment, and implementing design actions based on analysis using CAE/CFD/outdoor & indoor tests. The candidate should stay updated on new technologies and future trends in automotive vehicles. They will develop designs according to powertrain design specifications and manufacturing processes, managing CAD design lifecycle in PML tools such as Teamcenter. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate a high level of analytical ability and problem-solving skills, possess awareness of engineering operations, processes, and best practices, actively participate in efficiency and innovation initiatives, and have the ability to perform engineering design with minimal supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop design changes as per master layouts of respective e-Transaxle/EDU programs using CATIA V5, TCe, and GPED methodology and processes
  • Create and maintain Electric Drive Unit assemblies
  • Development of detailed part and assembly drawings, where needed
  • Assemble all components and sub-assemblies into a “global coordinate system”
  • Assemble using the “Common” or “Unique” assembly best practice method.
  • Participate in design reviews & communicate with Ford/Supplier as needed
  • Check Drawings and models for accuracy against marked drawings
  • Create stem layouts for corporate stem development of global vehicles
  • Ensure Material Properties are defined for all Trans Complete assemblies. Request new materials in the library if necessary.
  • Ensure components such as snap rings, springs, and Bellville washers are shown as per assembly state and defined in accordance with the GPED assembly state template.
  • Define Mass Moment of inertia Grouping in conjunction with CAE Definition and in according with the CATIA grouping best practice method for MMOI calculations
  • Calculate Oil Volume calculation for all transmission assemblies periodically as per the process

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/ Automobile) or related disciplines.
  • Experience working on CAD development tools specifically Catia V5 (Part, Assembly, Drafting, and Functional Tolerancing & Annotation (FTA) workbenches)
  • Good understanding of Transaxle and Drivetrain fundamentals and its function for electric vehicle application
  • Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing fundamentals
  • PLM tools – Teamcenter, Teamcenter Vismockup
  • MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, outlook etc.)
