Job Location

  • Hyderabad, India (Hybrid Work – In Office and Remote) is preferred.

General Role Overview

The Engineer, at Vehicle Design Studio will be responsible for helping to deliver Technical Inputs from Engineering groups and suppliers to the Design Studio for an in-flight program. 

The Engineer, Vehicle Design Studio is accountable for gateway delivery to the program and acts as the custodian of components/systems best practices and performance delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Translate and deliver technical input to Studio to progress the “Class A” surface, ensuring on-time delivery and working to the highest standards possible. This will involve working across technical specialties, adopting new processes, and acting as the main point of contact for your specialist area.
  • Translate geometrical development and integration across the Attribute Teams, including Design, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing, to the Design Studio.
  • Resolve CAD geometry “vs” CAS geometry “vs” attribute conflicts to progress Design Studio “Class A” surfaces.
  • Generate design solution proposals for complex cross-functional “Class A” surface-driven issues.
  • Technical ownership is expected for the following work streams:
    • Studio Feasibility Engineering (Cross-functional Team Integration).
    • Technical Confirmation that Design Solutions have all required Technical Inputs.
    • Arbitration of attribute “vs” design solution conflicts.
    • Assist in Design Solution maturation relative to “Class A” surface progression.
  • Assist project technical team to ensure products are delivered at an appropriate cost, quality, and timelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.  Associate Degree in a relevant technical field with relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience within the Vehicle Architecture domain, with a proven track record of developing Vehicle Architecture from Studio Concept through to the full Virtual Series maturation process.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience within the Vehicle Architecture domain, including:
    • Concept & Packaging
    • Studio Engineering (including excellent communication skills relating to Studio needs)
    • Arbitration of Design Solutions vs Vehicle Targets
    • Safety & CAE
    • Aero & Thermodynamics
    • NVH
    • Vehicle Performance

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • High level of proficiency using CATIA V5 or CATIA V6, including 2D drawings, 3D models, GD&T, and Surfacing.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the cascade of Performance, Weight, Functional, Cost, and Quality Targets.
  • Demonstrable understanding of vehicle architectures.
  • Broad understanding of various OEM Vehicle New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Good understanding of BOM processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
