Job Overview:
Eaton-MTL is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for the design and development of global electronic instrumentation products. The role involves concept development, design reviews, prototype development, and project tracking. You will work on parts, components, and assemblies used in process industries and industrial loops, focusing on manufacturability and synchronization with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development:
Design mechanical parts such as housings, supports, and sheet metal components for electronic instrumentation products. Ensure compliance with relevant industrial standards (UL, IEC, etc.). - CAD Modelling & Documentation:
Create CAD models, part and assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing, testing, and assembly. - Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Hardware engineers, Certification teams, Manufacturing, and Process teams for synchronized product development. - Prototype & Validation:
Assist in building prototypes, and proof of concept models, and ensure manufacturability perspective for early concepts. - Project Leadership:
Lead project activities for New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining product development. - Design for Manufacturability:
Focus on improving both new and existing designs while addressing technical challenges. - Mentorship:
Mentor junior team members, enhance their skills, and continue leading team initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D Modelling (Wireframe, Plastics, Sheet Metal).
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and material properties.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in design simulation (a plus).
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification is an advantage.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience with Design, Development, Testing, and Product Launch processes.
