Position – Manager Engineering – Design for Mfg & Assembly (DfMA)

Job description

• To Provide leadership & direction for the DfMA team by close working with Product team leaders, Manufacturing Plants, and Supply Chain teams to ensure necessary “PULL” to proactively address DfMA aspects in product design life cycle through active participation in design reviews and mentoring product engineers.
• Drive engineering excellence to ensure defect-free product launches by proactively addressing DfMA aspects for business-critical & complex projects across RD&E portfolio
• Guides DfMA team on Manufacturing feasibility studies, Product Cost Estimation, and Bench-marking for NPD (PROLaunch) and VA-VE projects.
• Integrate with program/project teams to ensure alignment and creating necessary “PULL” through value addition from the DfMA team. Drives resource decisions to support program/project needs.
• Establish processes, ensure PROLaunch adherence, drive standardization, and sharing of learnings and best practices across businesses.
• Establish & deploy strategic goals related to building organizational capabilities in terms of people, tools & processes
• Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, values, and philosophy, encourages continuous improvement and builds customer relationships, vigorously promotes excellence and pride of accomplishment among employees and ensures that the attitudes are matched by engagement and accomplishment.
• Manage the team’s budget for operational expenses. Creates a yearly budget forecast, monitors spending on a continuous basis and provides monthly adjustments to the forecast

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgy Engineering from an accredited institution; Master’s degree focusing Manufacturing Technology preferred
• Min 10-12 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering; or a combination of manufacturing engineering and Product Design & Development”
• Min 10-12 years of relevant experience in a managerial role
• Hands-on experience and expertise related to manufacturing processes is a must – Sheet metal, Plastic molding Machining, Casting, Forging, etc. Expertise related to Materials, Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing is preferred
• Proven experience with new product development and product launches
• Ability to perform/support/guide “Design to Cost”, Product cost estimation/optimization, Should costing, etc. Hands-on experience using any should costing tool is a plus
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, structured problem-solving tools, Six Sigma (DFSS & DMAIC), Engineering Change Management (ECM) process and ERP system “
• Ability to influence and achieve results in a matrix environment
• Strong demonstrated leadership competencies in managing a diverse team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written with the ability to work cross-functionally within all levels of the organization
• Ability to balance between delegation and a hands-on approach with critical assignments
• Good analytical skills and business acumen
