Job description
What you’ll do:
The primary responsibility of this role is Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) of GEIS products that will penetrate the national and international markets. This position’s responsibilities entail the identification and execution of cost savings initiatives through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).
- It also requires having strong communication skills, drive, strong engineering acumen, with enthusiasm in the product design arena.
- Work in multiple programs/projects related to Value analysis and value engineering (VAVE) to achieve the business goals and Profit Plan objectives.
- Own end-to-end cost-out projects including product conceptualization, detailing, design validation & testing of products.
- Conduct workshops to identify cost-out opportunities and evaluate those.
- Mentor and guide other cost-out engineers.
- Work in a cross-functional/ multi-disciplinary team in making technology/ engineering decisions required for project execution.
- Designs, validates, and releases systems, sub-systems, and components independently as well as through a team of engineers. Creates CAD drawings- detailing, 3D models, Assemblies, etc., and ensure release in PLM / ERP system per project plan.
- Develop test plans in accordance with IEC/UL standards. Create test object requirements, plan for assembly, and finalize test parameters & instrumentation. Responsible for conducting tests by ensuring the deployment of standard practices. Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures, and take corrective/preventive actions.
- Create Intellectual Property documents (IPs) around new product design concepts/ideas and drive innovation from ideation through to execution.
- Perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applications.
- Understands project management process and tools required for planning, effort estimation, and other quality management processes as required for achieving the project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- BE / MTech – Mechanical Engineering
- 2-6 yrs. Product Design
Skills:
- Sound technical knowledge and experience in the design and development of Mechanical products like sheet metal products (preferred), cast/machined products, plastic products, and relevant product standards such as UL, IEC, etc.
- Experience must include hands-on experience with product cost out from concept to commercialization, including and not limited to part detailing and designing, component and material selection, drawing creation, 3D modeling of parts/assemblies, and 2D dimensioning and tolerance of parts, prototyping, and validation
- Proven track record of successful cost-out project completion, realized cost out, and intellectual property generation.
- Analytical skills must include understanding component design/ selection, stresses, fatigue life, component fits, and establishing efficient/ergonomic methods of assembly, Design calculations.
- Should be proficient with GD&T, Six Sigma, DFMEA, DFMA, and UL/IEC certification
- Should have good knowledge of different product design tools, environments like CAD, Solid Works, and SAP.
- Understanding of GEIS Industrial products would be an added advantage
