Role Overview

The Associate Engineer will contribute to Eaton’s Aerospace Mission System Division (MSD), focusing on the design and development of aerospace products. This position requires a blend of technical proficiency, design expertise, and a commitment to Eaton’s values of safety, health, wellness, and inclusion. The primary responsibility is to design MSD products that meet rigorous requirements for safety, reliability, and conformance to industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Product Design & Development:
    • Using CAD platforms (e.g., Creo 7.0, AutoCAD, Bluebeam), design new products and modify existing designs for MSD.
    • Conduct GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design integrity.
    • Research customer proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess design feasibility.
  • Prototyping & Testing:
    • Provide manufacturability perspectives for early-stage designs and assist in prototype development.
    • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to build prototypes and test designs.
  • Technical Documentation:
    • Prepare technical design details, drawings, and 3D models in line with industry and internal standards.
    • Maintain accurate documentation within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (Enovia/Windchill).
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Support DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) initiatives using tools such as DFMEA, Risk Management, and DVPR.
    • Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles to optimize engineering designs.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Communicate technical details, testing results, and updates effectively with customers, team members, and cross-functional departments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Experience:
    • 0–2 years in product design, CAD modeling, and technical drawings.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficient in 3D modeling, CAD tools (Pro/E Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD), GD&T, and tolerance standards.
    • Knowledgeable in design standards such as ASME Y14/ANSI Y14.
    • Familiarity with DFMEA, DFMA, and engineering calculations.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication for technical clarifications and issue resolution.
    • Passion for continuous learning and process improvement.
