Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Documentation: Create and revise detail drawings, 3D models, bills of material, and component specifications to support the design and development of conveyance products.
- Design & Development: Perform engineering tasks related to product design, testing, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers or team leads.
- Module Ownership: Take ownership of specific design modules of larger mechanical systems and develop design concepts independently.
- Communication & Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Design Standards Compliance: Adhere to design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documentation, and data control.
- Standards Implementation: Participate in the deployment of relevant design standards (such as ACES) and Eaton’s product launch processes.
- CAD Support: Provide CAD support using specified CAD software, and work with data exchange and document control systems to ensure accurate designs.
- Component Design: Prepare parametric designs of various components, applying DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) fundamentals.
- Design Quality: Perform initial quality checks to ensure created designs meet Eaton and customer standards and requirements.
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing: Apply appropriate GD&T and tolerance stack-up for detailed designs according to component design methodologies.
- DFSS Tools: Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools such as DFMEA, Risk Management, and DVPR for new product development or existing product improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering/product design, particularly in mechanical systems.
Skills:
- CAD Expertise: Proficiency in one or more CAD tools (preferably CATIA) and experience with PLM tools.
- Problem Solving: Strong ability to perform root cause analysis.
- DFSS Knowledge: Familiarity with DFSS tools such as FMEA, Monte Carlo Analysis, and other risk management methods.
- Creative Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and innovate in design concepts.
- Communication: Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
