Job description
Overview:
The Associate Engineer (Stress) will support various Actuation Systems product lines, including Power Door Opening System (PDOS), Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems (TRAS), and Highlift Flap and Slat Actuation systems, and actively participate in structural analysis for NPI (New Product Introduction), redesign, and technology programs of Collins Aerospace Actuation Systems business unit.
Position: Associate Engineer (P1B) – Stress
Primary Responsibilities:
- Comply with appropriate structural analysis procedures, standard works, aerospace standards, customer needs, and regulatory requirements while understanding system requirements and design purposes.
- Perform a preliminary study as well as a full analysis for value engineering, re-designs, and technology initiatives.
- Carry out manual calculations the old-fashioned way, Finite Element Analysis, and prepare thorough results (stress reports and presentations)
- Support failure investigations and manufacturing concessions
- actively engage in teamwork, working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to build products
- Make sure analytical assignments are finished on time and to the necessary standard of quality.
Basic Qualifications:
- degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field from a bachelor’s or master’s program
- sound understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering, engineering materials, stress, fatigue, and vibration
- structural analysis experience of one to three years in the business (using FE tools, classical hand calculations)
Preferred Qualifications:
- knowledge in designing hydraulic and electromechanical products.
- understanding of engineering materials, production methods, and surface and heat treatment techniques
- Minimum one year of practical structural analysis experience using Mathcad and Ansys Workbench
- creation of productivity tools utilizing Python and Excel VBA
- knowledge of certification, qualification, and compliance requirements for aeronautical products.
