Job Summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the RM&S CoE team in supporting the development of innovative aviation electronic solutions for the world’s leading commercial aircraft companies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform Reliability assessments including MTBF prediction, FMEA in accordance with ARP 4761 and ARP 4754A.,
  • Support Aircraft and System Safety Analysis (ASA, SSA), Fault Hazard Assessment, & Design Assurance analysis of propulsion systems and installation, fuel systems, APU systems and installations, and engine controls and provide feedback to the program.
  • Serve as a systems safety architect and customer interface to capture, analyze, decompose, translate and create requirements for large complex systems.
  • Mentors teams on the utilization of internal processes, methods, and tools for systems development and documentation efforts. Drives new approaches, tools, and techniques based on needs identified in metric and defect trends in the enterprise.
  • Support flow down of system safety requirements to design and development of hardware and software based on the development assurance level (DAL)
  • Drives Discipline strategies that align with higher level business objectives
  • Helps steer the customer on how they can achieve their objectives
  • Lead technical proposal preparations and serve as the subject matter expert in non-advocate and customer systems reviews for large complex systems.
  • Leads in identification and analysis of potential hazards from aircraft and system concept definition through development, testing, production, and sustainment.
  • Performs aircraft and system functional hazard analysis, system safety analysis, and fault tree analysis and provide recommendations to improve system safety.
  • Recognized technical expert in avionics safety
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders in the relevant areas in order to derive the inputs for the safety engineering case and decision making

Basic Qualifications

  • Preferably Mechanical/Aeronautical/ Systems Engineering
    • Bachelor’s degree (and 1+ years of relevant experience )
    • Advanced degree and 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in systems safety analysis as per ARP4761/ ARP4754
  • Demonstrated expertise with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools
  • Understanding of DO 254/DO178C/ DO 160 standards will be added advantage
  • Demonstrated expertise in aircraft or embedded systems
  • Knowledge in reliability engineering theory
  • Effective oral/written communication skills (including technical writing)
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills
  • Demonstrated expertise on how to prepare and present technical information to peers, to all levels of internal management, and to external customers
  • Demonstrated expertise on how to coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules
  • Engaging in effective time management, working with a great deal of independence
