Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)

This position is responsible for developing 2D / 3D tire simulation models for 2wheeler tyre and apply them for simulation of new products as per the product design shared by the product development and design team.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• No. of simulations for new products development
• % Conformance to simulation standards
• % time reduction by CAE automation & optimization
• No. of R&D projects undertaken
• Simulation capability development

KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

New Product Design simulation

• Liaise with the design team to understand the product design in detail
• Develop virtual 2D/ 3D models as per the product design/ drawing and carry out simulation for the same through use of simulation software
• Develop simulation models for new materials and update models for existing material
• Tyre structural, dynamic and thermal simulations
• Analyse simulation output/ results and estimate performance metrics
• Co-ordinate and follow-up with CFT’s like design, compounding, PDM, testing to ensure timely execution of all activities as per the plan

Capability development

• Develop Computer Aided Engineering (ABACUS, HYPER MESH) based methods for nonlinear analysis of tire performance and manufacturing process
• Develop advanced tyre simulation

Other activities

• Maintain a library of documents related to simulation – Simulation models, SOP’s, test cases, test results, simulation standards
• Capture knowledge/ learnings on a regular basis into department’s Knowledge Management system and update the same

Education and Experience Required

Education Requirement:

M.E / M. Tech (Mechanical)

Preferred:

understanding of tyre Simulations using FEA

Experience: 1 – 2 years

Skill Set Required: Minimum 2 years of experience with tire FEA simulation using ABAQUS and hypermesh

Sound background of FEA, mechanical basics, and basic understanding about hyperelastic and viscoelastic material.

Good communication skill

Skill set are preferred: Comfortable working with one of Matlab, Fortran, Python or any other programming language

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide support to New product industrialization and OEM handling, documentation

DIMENSIONS:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• NEW PRODUCT INDUSTRIALIZATION :
  • New product industrialization in process through Tyre engg calculation, SAP,PLM.
  • Product validations, analysis,Cut Tyre Rating, Release trackings and adherence of time lines.
  • New process system development and establishing SOP, incorporation of its requirements in SAP.
  • Product QCD (Quality,Cost,Delivery) tracking till Sign off and intiative actions for improvements with CFT.
  • System development and adherence of NPD process
  • Tooling knowledge and Procurements w.r.t NPD plan, tracking
  • Knowledge on DFMEA / PFMEA / Control Plan
  • Basic knowledge on SAP / Tyre engg
• PROCESS & PRODUCT:
  • Optimize the use of existing material / alternate material for Product benefit
  • Knowledge and working experience of Tyre Building,Curing Process and Process trouble shooting
  • Analyze product failure due to product/process and intiate improvement measures
  • Generate quality improvement projects to improve the product performance and process efficiencies
  • PDCA approach to continual improvement and system development
• OE, TECHNICAL & QUALITY TASKS:
  • New product development systems for OEM
  • Good knowledge of OEM requirements and system
  • Documentations w.r.t OE Coustomers / Product Understanding, execution towards requirements.
  • OE Customer visit and Audit handling during new product introduction.
  • Basic knowledge on Statistical knowledge for Data analysis.
