Job Scope:
The person will be a team member within the Design – Buckets & Hydro-Mechanical Work Tools of HEX (Hydraulic Excavator / Wheel Loaders) with responsibility for design, development of Fabricated & Hydro Mechanical Systems, Linkages and Wear components to meet our internal process partner and the customer needs. Design and develop concepts to address Global CPI issues, to support new product development needs and support cost reduction goals in line with Caterpillar product development processes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary Job responsibility is to provide system design solutions for NPI, CPI, Cost Reduction of Buckets, Couplers, Hydraulic Hammers & Demolition Work Tools.
- Accountable for the Custom Design of the above-mentioned products; hence Conceives, Designs & evaluates Structural rigidity.
- Helps lead engineers to generate reports like Feasibility checks and virtual validation to extend the portfolio for the next range. And this will also create Aftermarket Sales opportunities for Caterpillar.
- Make calculations, design decisions, and necessary analysis and computer simulations.
- Requires adequate knowledge of general engineering practices & GD&T, manufacturing processes like welding, machining, surface finishing, heat treatment, etc.
- Must be able to effectively program and manage their tasks and meet deadlines.
- He / She can be either an individual contributor to perform the design, with excellence in analyzing, identifying, and applying engineering techniques to solve problems and make recommendations.
An Ideal Candidate will have
Requires an accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience, and Incumbents have usually gained 1 to 3 years’ experience and have exhibited an ability to work on moderately complex assignments.
Good product knowledge on Heavy Machine Construction / Mining equipment. Demonstrates fair understanding of fabricated structures & Hydraulics. Understanding of Soil–Metal interaction & Wear Mechanisms would be an absolute delight.
Demonstrates self-starter attitude & must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
Technical & Software Skills
- Advanced CAD Modeling, Assembly, Structural analysis – Pro/E – CREO, Creo Simulate / Ansys / FE Safe & Astrolab
- For Linkage simulation – C-Link / Creo Sketcher
- Dynasty / TOMSIM / Rocks3D exposure would be an absolute delight.
