The position is part of a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) team that is responsible for supporting the Combustion, emission, performance, and mechanical development of Caterpillar engines. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Global team in the design, development, and validation of mechanical system performance through CFD analysis. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance on CFD analysis, initiating new ideas, and developing new technology and processes. The candidate is expected to evaluate different designs and provide suitable recommendations to improve/develop new products. Candidate must ensure compliance to all process requirements & Quality systems. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and guiding team members on technical aspects.
Qualifications:
Post-graduation from a reputed institute in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering (2 to 4 years of Industrial Experience) with specialization in the fields of In-cylinder combustion, fluid, and thermal sciences. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in Combustion, heat transfer, turbulence, and numerical methods.
Key Skill Sets:
- Knowledge of underlying theoretical principles of Mechanical Engineering.
- Working experience in developing/optimizing IC engine combustion systems for engines >10ltr
- Strong knowledge of combustion and turbulence models
- Hands-on experience in CONVERGE
- Working knowledge and control principles for common mechanical systems.
- Sound understanding of Engine and Powertrain system
- Experience is mentoring and leading teams in Engine development
- Related publications in Journals and internal conferences will be added advantage
Preferred Skills Sets:
- Prior experience in CFD modeling (PhD/MTech with 0-4 years of industrial experience)
- Strong Knowledge of Combustion tools: CONVERGE/Star CD/AVL FIRE
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments
- Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
- Demonstrated excellent judgment and decision-making ability
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems
- Good understanding of Fluid Mechanics & Heat Transfer and IC Engine fundamentals
- Experience with internal & external flow, Conjugate heat transfer including radiation, multiphase flow, and transient analysis preferably in the automotive / aerospace domain.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, global diversity work culture, and good communication.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroups
- Candidate willing to work in Chennai
