Qualifications – Any Graduate


Industrial Designer with experience in Human Factors Exp 6 to 8 year.

  1. Conducting ethnographic studies to understand user needs In the case encore observing Stent delivery procedures where encore device is used were observed and designers focused on pain points Getting into OR and observing user task environment product relationship
  2. The needs are then converted to need statements for the designers to focus their solutions
  3. In the ideation phase generating ideas skillsets needed here are conducting effective brainstorming sessions and generating incremental as well as out of the box concepts by sketching out ideas Here the skillset needed are understanding the mechanical components of encore device and the exploring various layouts to mechanical leverages to reduce efforts needed by the user This is where Human factors play a role in arriving at various forces needed to rotate the plunger in Encore device such that torqueing is easier for 5th Percentile of intended users Here for the encore plunger torque the Designer referred to HE75 and IEC 62366 The designer further creatively combined the ergonomic dimensions and sketches to form concepts
  4. Converting the sketches into 3d files by using software like rhino Solidworks
  5. Taking user feedback with actual end-users The designers along with marketing team for Encore traveled to various conferences in target markets to collect data on aspects such as plunger torque diameter size and visual communication on the dial 6 Once the concept is finalized the further design of manufacturing activities were carried out on the encore device to reduce the number of components and ease of moldability.
