Job description
Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) Energy Division is looking for a Piping Designer in the Mechanical department at our Mumbai Office. The Energy Division focuses on power generating facilities, which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences.
The energy group is involved in the design and evaluation of mechanical systems associated with coal and natural gas-fired power generation facilities as well as associated support facilities (i.e Gas turbines, Steam Turbines, Heat Recovery Generators, and Balance of plant equipment to be designed and constructed as per applicable codes and standards).
Multi-disciplined power generation projects require Piping designers to work in a diverse project team environment and join our capable team.
Piping Designer should be able to follow instructions, but also take initiative and come up with their own ideas. The candidate will perform work that involves design skills relative to work practices and procedures.
The Mechanical Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Energy Global Practice to perform the following duties:
- Understanding project requirements and completing all duties assigned by the Supervisor.
- Shadowing senior members, asking questions, and assisting wherever possible.
- Raising concerns and making suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
- Participating in design review meetings and attending workshops and other training initiatives.
- Take notes and share your findings with your supervisor.
- Establishing professional relationships with the team and colleagues.
- Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence.
- Responsibilities will include preparing piping layouts and conceptual design in 2D CAD.
- 3D Modeling of piping, extraction of drawings, isometrics, and MTO from 3D Model, identifying and solving of clash report, conversion of extracted drawings to AutoCAD.
- Coordination with other disciplines.
- Review drawings, and vendor equipment documentation, both within the discipline as well as from other fields, for compliance with project requirements and actively seek resolution.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficient in the English language and must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent learning ability.
- Knowledge & understanding of design software such as SP3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, and Excel will be an added advantage.
