Job Summary:

MEP engineering activities in mechanical discipline on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit. Plans and directs MEP engineering assignments on the project. Has technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating these assignments. Candidate having design experience in Semiconductor facility, Battery manufacturing and data center will be added advantage.

Major Responsibilities:

Selected candidate will report to the Engineering Group Supervisor and essential job duties will include the following:

  • Shall perform analysis and design of wet utilities, piping systems or electrical distribution using software and manual methods. 
  • Shall perform independent system design, prepare flow diagram and Piping and Instrument diagrams(P&ID’s), Design Basis Report (DBR) etc.
  • Shall prepare calculation reports, material requisitions, service requisitions, technical specifications, and bill of quantity (BOQ) and provide input for design drawings during all phases of projects.
  • Shall check the drawings prepared by the designers.
  • Shall participate in conceptual studies and proposals.
  • Shall perform construction administration such as answering RFIs and shop drawing submittals.
  • Shall design plumbing systems including hot and cold water, sanitary, venting, grease waste, storm water, etc. based on local and international code requirements.
  • I shall be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to contractors’ reports and will assist in monitoring and evaluating change order proposals pertaining to MEP components of the project.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and 3 -11 years of relevant work experience
  • The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of the Global Bechtel team and should have a basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities. Should have a good proficiency in spoken and written English language.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

This role will help in the development, review, and finalization of critical project deliverables like:

  • Knowledge of discipline engineering techniques and design calculation principles.
  • Knowledge of detail engineering and deliverables and understanding of the complete design work process including the tools.
  • Understanding of engineering procedures and design guides.
  • Basic understanding of the roles played by other engineering disciplines on projects.
  • Hands-on experience on design of building plumbing and hydronic systems, water heaters, eyewash & showers booster pumping station etc.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and codes such as IPC, NBC, other international and state codes.
  • Good skills in oral and written communication.
  • Should be proficient in using MS office tools.
  • Preference will be given to the candidates who are proficient in using 3D structural modeling software such as Revit etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the interface process with other disciplines.
  • Knowledge in fire protection system design and other MEP system will be added advantage.
