About the Role:
As a Mechanical Component Engineer – Auxiliary Systems, you will be part of Baker Hughes’ Turbomachinery Process Solutions Product Line. You will primarily focus on executing mechanical engineering projects related to turbomachinery auxiliary systems. This includes working on project scope, designing mechanical auxiliaries, collaborating with external engineering suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of designs and documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review Customer Specifications: Understand and derive critical project requirements for designing mechanical auxiliaries in line with Baker Hughes’ best practices.
- Collaborate with External Suppliers: Manage the creation of basic engineering drawings for mechanical auxiliaries, foundation drawings, and 3D models.
- Review Engineering Designs: Evaluate engineering drawings, 3D models, and perform structural analysis of baseplates using FEA tools.
- Piping and Support Design: Design piping line specifications, including lube oil tanks and components like pumps, filters, and pressure control valves according to API 614.
- Skid Package Design: Oversee skid package design for compressor and steam turbine packages with a focus on ergonomics and accessibility.
- External BOP Skids: Design various external BOP skids, collaborating with OEM vendors for equipment such as oil mist eliminators and rundown oil tanks.
- Plant 3D Model Ownership: Manage and verify the project’s 3D model, conducting review meetings with customers.
- Support During Installation: Provide assistance during installation and commissioning of machinery at the site.
Requirements:
- Educational Background:
- BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in rotating equipment auxiliary system design, piping, and structural analysis.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in piping design standards (ASME B31.1 & 31.3).
- Experience with lube oil systems and API 614 code requirements.
- Knowledge of sizing calculations and valve selection.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling tools (UG NX, AutoCAD) and analysis software (Ansys, Caesar).
- Ability to read and understand P&ID, technical datasheets, and site service requests.
