Position Summary:
As a L3 Manager – EV Powertrain Mechanical, you will design and develop innovative EV powertrain components for 2- and 3-wheelers. Your role will include managing the design of motor-transmission cooling systems, casings, and mechanical architecture while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the performance, safety, and efficiency of Bajaj Auto’s EV offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development:
- Manage and design EV powertrain components, including motor/MCU casings and cooling systems, for 2- and 3-wheelers.
- Define and develop new automotive technologies aligned with company goals and industry trends.
- Integration & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure smooth integration and resolution of design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for serviceability (DFS) issues.
- Analysis & Validation:
- Conduct in-depth research, analysis, and validation of cooling and lubrication systems, ensuring IP67 compliance and performance standards.
- Use tools like HyperMesh and ANSYS for simulation and optimization.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including DFMEA, DRBFM, testing standards, validation reports, and design specifications.
- Lead the design release process and document testing results for internal reference or patent applications.
- Innovation:
- Stay updated on emerging automotive technologies and integrate relevant advancements into product designs.
Prerequisites:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of EV powertrain components, including motor/MCU casings, cooling systems, and drivetrain integration.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and PDC process knowledge.
- Knowledge of seal materials, sealing applications, and IP67 compliance standards.
- Expertise in lubrication systems design, flow estimation, and validation methods.
- Simulation & Tools:
- Proficient in simulation tools like HyperMesh and ANSYS.
- Industry Standards & Processes:
- Familiarity with product development processes such as DoE, VA/VE.
- Knowledge of evaluation procedures, methods, and test equipment for cooling and lubricating systems.
- Communication & Documentation:
- Effective communication skills to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in creating technical documentation, including DFMEA, DRBFM, and validation reports.
Key Qualifications:
- Education:
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in automotive R&D with a proven track record in designing and implementing innovative EV powertrain components.
