Your Role

Mission:

The main responsibility of the Design Engineer in Mechanical design Engineered Solutions competence in the GAP team is to manage the Design and Development projects independently to ensure the timely delivery of high quality. Design and drawing in the field of centrifugal compressors manufactured at a different divisions of Atlas Copco around the world.

You will handle projects for design and development, interact with Team leaders and customers, and present & discuss the proposed designs.

To understand the build-up of the assemblies, you will have continuous interaction with different Engineering Departments of Atlas Copco group companies and will have communication with the customers at Product company locations. You will understand (stated or unstated need) assigned jobs with respect to the project schedule, work on different CAD packages, and deliver the high-quality job in the specified time frame. You will be responsible to follow design codes, work instructions & checklists on the tasks handled and carrying out the cad checking. It will be your challenge to further develop & expand the scope of activities while working as a good team member.

As a Project Engineer, you will need to –

  • Generate 3D layouts, detail engineering, and drawings for new products.
  • Monitor performance parameters like Timely completion, Quality of drawings, and First time right
  • Continually innovate ideas to improve the Quality aspect of engineering.
  • The complete responsibility of executing assigned tasks/ projects.
  • Generating necessary documents for tasks as per Quality Systems. Also following design codes, work instructions, and checklists.
  • Coordination with internal clients for reporting the status of tasks, resolving queries, and receiving feedback.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Communication and interaction with the internal clients regularly on the progress of the job requests.
  • Coordination with internal clients for reporting the status of tasks, presenting queries, and receiving feedback.
  • Estimation of work involved, lead time, and execution of tasks according to internal customer requirements.
  • Tracking all the job requests for their progress with reference to the committed time frame.
  • Understanding priorities, job planning, and training designers to execute the jobs with high quality within specified timelines.
  • Maximize satisfaction level of customers in terms of quality of work, meeting deadlines, and quick turnaround time.
  • You will be responsible to follow Atlas Copco design codes, standards, work instructions & checklists of the tasks handled and carry out the checking. Ensure adherence to Quality Norms as set by the Project leader from time to time.
  • It will be a challenge for you to further develop & expand the scope of activities and control the work done by external design agencies, onsite as well as off-site. Utilize efficiently the available contract Engineers.
  • Complete any mechanical engineering-related tasks assigned by his or her supervisor.
  • Take an active part in the engineering team to support the release of all engineering deliverables linked to the project.

Skills and experience

Experience requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software is a must.
  • Inventor and AutoCAD knowledge will be added advantages.
  • Should have working knowledge of Centrifugal Compressors.
  • Should be proficient in CAD and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Enovia PLM will be an advantage.
  • Worked in design, engineering & project environments.

Knowledge/Educational requirements

The successful candidate should have a good mix of the following:

  • The right candidate shall have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical with 4-7 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, DIN, and ISO standards.

Skills Required

  • Clear & precise communication
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Fast learner

Are we a good fit?

  • Centrifugal Compressor experience or similar products will be preferred
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, DIN and ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of Oil system, Seal system design add an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CAD designing software – SolidWorks
  • Experience of design calculations at component level

  • Willing to take higher responsibility
  • Independent handling of critical projects with minimum guidance,
