Job description

Job Purpose

  • Ensuring the smooth functioning of machines and other equipment in all user departments through preventive maintenance measures, taking quick and efficient corrective action in case of machine breakdowns, allotting work to operators depending on shift requirements, ensuring proper adherence to Annual Maintenance contracts.

Primary Responsibilities

Daily Activities:

  • Studying the Daily Log Book in order to know the status of jobs undertaken in the previous shift.
  • Taking attendance of operators in plant engineering department, updating the OT file and forwarding it to the production Officer-Level I.
  • Coordinating with the previous shift engineer and allotting work to shift technicians in the workshop.
  • Responsible for conduct of LOTO procedure during equipment maintenance as described under section 2.3 of Asian Paints Safety Manual.
  • Distribution of Work slips to operators and allotting helpers to them. Filling up of the work slips at the end of the shift depending on the status of the job done.
  • Briefing the technicians on the status of the machine and providing any guidance that they may need.
  • Issuing of spares to technicians for the work allotted to them after properly checking them in engineering stores.
  • Making daily visits to the various departments and inspecting the machines. Communicating the start-up of work to the production In charge and collecting the performance details of other machines.

Instructions.

  • Ensuring the daily checking of the compressor logbook, material handling logbook and soft water records.
  • Ensuring that all shift breakdown memos are closed at the end of the shift.
  • Writing all shift activities undertaken in the engineer’s logbook at the end of the shift. Entering details about the major packing breakdowns in the production log book at the end of the shift.
  • Coordinating with the vendors for supplying spares and inviting new vendors.
  • Carrying out daily check-up of the Critical Equipment and ensuring preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of sufficient inventory of critical spares of equipment in allotted departments.
  • Monitoring safety related aspects in allotted departments. Ensuring 5S and other housekeeping activities.
  • Preparing indents for purchase of spare parts.
  • Interacting with suppliers of spare parts and ensuring their prompt delivery.

Monthly Activities:

  • Conducting a manpower hour’s analysis and sending the report to engineering stores.
  • Closing all pending breakdown memos and updating the [QR] [PRD] [004] file for ISO purpose.
  • Verifying OT hours details of all workmen and cross-checking with the personnel department and rectifying any discrepancies.
  • Carrying out any modifications required in equipment, pipelines, and other accessories as and when needed by the production department.

Qualifications

  • Education – Diploma-Mechanical
  • Previous Experience 2-3 years Exp. In Processing(Manufacturing)
