The commercialization of newly created goods and features, from early designs through volume production operations, is the responsibility of the NPME (New Product Manufacturing Engineer).

Education and Experience

  • 4 to 8 years of professional experience in the concerned field.
  • mechanical/manufacturing bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

Primary Responsibility

  • Interface with engineering departments to plan the introduction of new products or product upgrades. 
  • On a PLC/CIP program module or product.
  • Super BOM must be released in order to enable Phase Gate to exist.
  • Performs a virtual build to identify manufacturing build concerns early. It also chooses the best and most efficient manufacturing, procurement, packing, and shipping strategies for the relevant module.
  • As necessary support design engineering and floor for new/existing products, launches, and releases, and authorize and implement engineering change orders / Non-Standard Requests or Orders.
  • Supports OMS Creation for NPI/CIP Builds for New Product Documentation
  • Develop and keep up a master layout.
  • collaborates with design SMEs to provide tooling designs and testing fixtures that will result in high-quality and productive production builds.
  • Take part in the creation of new products, identify the underlying causes of problems that occur during system assembly and/or testing, and implement both short- and long-term remedial measures.
  • Operations, design engineering, and global product management collaborate to develop the best possible solution to address supplier, build, and field concerns in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Evaluates work methods, procedures, and policies. Develops and maintains new business processes; edits as necessary to ensure current practices are documented. Mentors and trains lower-level engineers.

Other Responsibilities

  • Utilizes DFx principles (Design for Manufacturing, Aesthetics, Ergonomics, Producibility, etc.) to lower product costs and raise the quality of the finished product.
  • Contributes to the creation and upkeep of new business processes; makes required adjustments to ensure that current procedures are documented
  • does other tasks as directed. The incumbent’s tasks will change depending on the project at hand and/or the department’s unique objectives.
  • When dealing with new product development, does process failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis.

Job-Specific Skills/Knowledge

  • requires evidence of understanding of the concepts, ideas, and methods of manufacturing engineering.
  • Material handling, product safety regulations, product structure, bill of materials, and root cause analysis.
  • Minimum of three years of practical experience using TCAI/Creo CAD tools (1-3 Years: At least one year of practical expertise with a 3D CAD modelling programme)
  • working knowledge of GD&T requirements for complicated (1-3 Years: Basic) production designs.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes, DFx (Design for Excellence) engineering concepts, value engineering, produceability/manufacturability analysis, test & tooling, etc., are important for performing the job function (1-3 years: Optional)
  • knowledge of how to handle supplier issues and identify the underlying causes for immediate and long-term remedial action
  • Teamcenter expertise is advised. (Optional) 1-3 years
  • experience with an ERP system, particularly SAP, to comprehend its fundamental functions and carry out tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills were used to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Other Skills (Good to have)

  • Knowledge and expertise in DFM and DFp
  • Process expertise in PFMECA
  • Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Strong talents in product technology, change management, problem-solving, interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork, and quality are needed.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities is required.
