Role Overview

The Engineer – Piping plays a pivotal role in the technical execution of projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, best practices, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to deliver efficient and innovative solutions for piping systems.


Key Responsibilities

General Engineering Activities:

  • Develop and implement engineering practices, workflows, and procedures.
  • Recommend and implement specifications and procedures based on project requirements.
  • Monitor workflow and project activities, ensuring alignment with KPIs and efficiency standards.
  • Solve technical problems and propose innovative solutions.
  • Participate in technical training and mentoring programs for engineers and designers.

Project Execution:

  • Ensure adherence to discipline manuals and job manuals during project execution.
  • Deliver high-quality design work, including layouts, drawings, and 3D models, within specified schedules.
  • Perform technical procurement activities, including vendor document reviews and approvals.
  • Address site queries and provide technical support during project execution and inspections.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are implemented effectively.

Technical Expertise:

  • Develop plant layouts and piping designs using SmartPlant SP3D, ensuring safety, accessibility, operability, and constructability.
  • Perform 3D modeling for process and utility piping lines, structures, and equipment.
  • Generate equipment layouts, piping general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and material take-off (MTO) reports.
  • Ensure clash-free models through SmartPlant SP3D checks and participate in model reviews.
  • Develop civil, structural, and platform drawings, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Proactively coordinate interdisciplinary workflows to manage deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech/M.Tech).

Experience:

  • 2-7 years in EPC or detailed design engineering within sectors like Oil & Gas, Energy, Refining, or Petrochemicals.
  • Experience in modularization is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in tools such as SmartPlant SP3D, SPR, Navisworks, and MicroStation.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards for piping systems.
  • Expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and risk mitigation skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
